Congrats you'll love it. Maybe watch the tire pressure sensors.

Congrats on your new ride.

Having that many in the herd must really cause some anxiety when it comes to "which one will I drive today?"

#1 C5 shortcoming.

Column Lock Bypass..... If it doesn't already have it, install one immediately.

Left me stranded in my '99.

I would say check the DIC codes. That way any problems on the car will be flagged up. H means its a history code. C means its current so you may want to dig into those.

You'll recognize if your car has been looked after particularly with your experience around Vettes.

Just about every C5 issue known to man is in this sticky:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...ngths-etc.html

Things to look for:

Leaky diff seal
Evidence of battery leaks around the battery tray
Make sure the windows and door locks work

and I agree, if you buy a manual fit a column lock bypass as soon as possible.

Welcome to the C5 Forum and best of luck with the 99

Corvette 1997-2000 Codes

To list your codes, turn the ignition key to the ON position, but don't start the engine. Clear any present DIC messages (like Door Ajar, or Service Steering Column) by pressing the RESET button. Then hold the OPTIONS button down, while pressing the FUEL button 4 times. This will get you into the CODES section of the DIC.
The computer will automatically display all the codes your car is or has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. You can watch it display codes for every module in your car. If you want to write them down, go ahead. Any code that ends in H is a history code - something that has occurred in the past but is fine now. The computer is very sensitive and would throw a code if you turned the radio off while tuning it.
Once the computer has finished going through all of it's automatic codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration. It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# CODES". If it shows a number of codes, press and hold RESET until it displays "NO CODES". This is how you reset your codes.

When you turn the ignition on and off you will hear the lock mechanism operating if it has not already been bypassed. If you don't hear it, you're good to go.

Congrats on the new ride. Not sure about the steering wheel lock. Tire pressure- are you getting low tire pressure warning, or are you just asking how to check them?

First off, Welcome aboard

From what I read from a short search http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...e-sensors.html I dont think you can delete the TPS on a 99 completely.

You would still have a service tire message every time you started it, since you didnt mention that Im assuming you can see RFront XX lbs LFront XX lbs but dont get the next page RRear XX lbs LRear xx lbs ?

And regarding the CLB, if you can turn the wheel with the key out, something was done (I specialize in obvious), not sure how you tell if it was the dealer correction or the aftermarket one.

I have heard that the GM fix can still give you a problem at a later date, but the aftermarket one you do yourself (just something to plug in under the car) usualy fixes it for good.

Im sure you'll get it all sorted out.

Im just waiting for the post after the first time you lean on it through a turn I just wanna hear what you say
