Corvette Blackout Kit
Decided to do SS brake lines today on the C5Z.
While I ordered the power bleeder kit from Mid America, I decided to throw the $20 at the below kit just to see what the black C5Z would look like with a little blacking out.
All I can say is: worst $20 I threw away in a long time.
The pieces for the front turn signals were 1/2 to 3/4" short and horribly cut, that was my first warning.
I put on the reverse back up light black outs, and it REALLY cheapened up the car visually.
Not the blacking out, but these things just look CHEAP and ricer.
I know I only spent $20, and I didn't expect a lot, but SAVE yourself some money and look elsewhere for your options for possibly blacking out the car.
Don't order the kit, don't even think about it. Its a waste of money.
I am not even going to waste my time taking a picture of it and posting what it looks like, it is not worth my time.
I am not upset (even though my tone may read to be), I didn't expect a lot.
I am just warning my fellow c5'ers.
What upsets me is (being new to Corvette's) I was thinking Mid America is a quality vendor. Peddling things that should be a prize in a Kracker Jack box or found in your local automotive store "Ricer" section was not what I expected. Kind of makes me question if other things they are selling are worth considering......

1) static-cling vinyl
2) tint-film heat-molded
3) Smoked Acrylic
4) Spray tint (VHT night shades)
5) Professional paint/tint with bake-on and polishing.
I have tried 4 of the 5 (have not attempted #2) Eventually I busted out and got corvette enhancements to do every lens on my car. Granted it was rather expensive, but the end result is just plain wicked-awesome:

I opted for the full-blackout tint which is darker than the smoked version they normally do. This finish blends with the car's color perfectly but still allows for good light transmission:

(Pay no attention to the sleeping Chihuahua in the background please.)

And on the C5.

These actually appear to allow significantly more light through than the stick-ons I had previously. I know that's an issue for anyone considering blackouts and it certainly was for me.
