Next is a shortened ACI, but do you guys want to leave it as is with center support? I was told we might be able to start this in 2 weeks so lets try to nail down what we want to make.
Carbon and Chrome style but with a straight edge and not extending to far on the sides.

In order of preference:
1. Shortened ACI without center support
2. Chrome/Carb, but not sticking out to the side or "frontal flaps" at the wheel wells.

Material: flexible fiberglass and/or kevlar or urethane. Real carbon fiber is unnecessary, but hydrocarbon could be an option for those who want the look without the expense.

Shortened ACI without center support in any material that keeps it under $300.

I'm afraid I'm not interested in the C&C look.

Much thanks for asking...

As much as I'm all for seamless integration, and I do like the ACP overlay spoiler (except for the overlay part), I don't think we need to reinvent the whole front fascia. Tigershark has done that nicely, if you want something different from the original C5 design.

I, personally, am interested in a short addition to the stock front fascia. Again, ACI did a fine job with their style, and with no other options available, I'd buy one of theirs and shorten it to look like the mock-up I did above. Clean and simple, attached from underneath, no extra seams or overlap, no extra vents or scoops. There's not a lot of real estate involved, so prepping and painting would be minimal, particularly compared to a full fascia. Priced at $299, I'd buy one in a Heartbeat.

I have the ACI, and love it. That said, the shortened version is by far a better looking splitter.
Thing is about eleminating the center support is that it is an integral mounting piece. The large center bolt goes through this piece, and adds rigidity to the section.

Consider: the shortened version may very well be stiff enough to forgo the center support, or the lower part of the lip below the opening could always be made beefier. Even if the very center bottom of the lip flexes a bit, that's not a bad thing when it comes to close encounters.

I went and took a good look at the way the ACI is designed. There is so much beef behind the opening, you would have no problem eleminating the center section, and still retain rigidity. You aren't going to have any forward to rearward give at all.
This is all pertaining to the splitter being made in fiberglass, or carbon fiber. If it's urethane, then you have to throw all this out the window. The center support would have to be there to keep it from flexing up and down.
As for the close encounters, see my thread about a parking curb and my wife!

I like this idea. Then you could mount a remote hidden license plate up front.

Chrome and Carbon!!

I have to say the ACI isn't a horrible design but I just think that there to many of those out there. I rather see some other kind of style that came from out of the US.

Sneaks!!
Howzit bradda??
I love the look of your ride!
I agree with you tho, there is no way my wife could back my ride up our driveway without the ACI taking major abuse.
Good to hear your view and input...

Aloha

[QUOTE=chrisj;1573163529]I want one in carbon.

I've been tracking ideas for this for years. Here's my two favorite.

First is the ACP one posted earlier. This seems to be pretty close to the discussion of the shortened ACI. It does seem to have some sort of lip/edge/curve in front of the front wheels. Not sure that could be replicated.

This one and the shortened ACI with the center support removed get my vote! If you make it it Carbon I'm in for the Group Purchase.
