Harbor Fright Racing Jack. Used it today for the first time. Worked well. Just waiting to see how long it lasts.

Default Hockey Pucks, Lift Points and Ramps

I just got my first Vette a couple of weeks ago. Are there any tricks to lifting the Vette like the right lift points, things that look like lift points but will go straight through the fiberglass, and do you need adapters for the floor jack (hockey pucks)?

I'm in the Army and want to use our MWR Automotive Self-Help Bays. Do I need any special adapters for their swing-arm jacks?

Also, do you have a good recommendation for inexpensive low-angle ramps?

Thanks

I finally got around to clipping the coupon out and buying one today. As far as HF tools go, this looks like a VERY nice jack. It's low profile is pretty awesome, although I was shocked to see that they actually offered jacks that were almost an inch to inch 1/2 lower! Ran your 2x the price, so I still walked out with the $100 jack for $60

3" low height, and 3000lbs lifting capacity. Item # 91039.

I actually just bought one of these yesterday at Harbor Freight.

I must say - when I took it out of the box my jaw just dropped. It was BEAUTIFUL. Looked almost like a piece of jewelery

Although I have not yet used it, the workmanship in it looks incredible and the finish is beautiful with polished aluminum parts and plates and everything else is a blue anodized aluminum finish.

Here is a coupon I found online for $59.99
http://www.harborfreightusa.com/html...e/magurl1.html

I have seen these elsewhere under different brand names. I think Pep Boys sells them for almost double this price (but not sure so do your own research).

I think you will really like this jack if it performs as good as it looks.

Default Arcan XL35R

I went online and found great reviews on the Arcan XL35R. The only place I was able to find it was Northern Tools on sale for $124 but the nearest location was over 2 hours away and shipping would cost over $60. Luckily, I was at Costco one day and spotted the exact same jack for $95. Very solid jack - but very heavy - 101 lbs!!!!
Would highly recommend based on all the 5 star reviews it got.

Is there a safe single lift point for the front and rear end of a C5 that would make it possible to position jack stands in pairs for the front and rear?

I would not trust any lightweight jack, especially from Harbor Freight.
I bought AC Hydraulics jacks, but I am not sure they are available anymore.

I used this link to make wood ramps.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1553123537-post1.html
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...-pictures.html

And I use a regular Craftsman jack.

I also have non-runflats so I have one of these in my car in case I need to remove a tire to fix a flat. I use a BMW jack like the one pictured for the BMW's that use jacking pucks.

I for one don't get under my car when it is solely on a jack. That's what jack stands or ramps are for...

There is a coupon in "Chevy High Performance" magazine for this jack (at Harbor Freight) for 59.99. I just used the coupon last week to buy one. Pretty good buy for what looks like a good jack, and it is plenty low (3") to get under mine with my homemade pucks.

Default Great Thread!

Just picked up the Harbor Freight jack 91039 with a coupon for $59.99 and two pairs of their aluminum jack stands 91760 with the 20% off coupon (was good only on one pair) $66.58 for (4) aluminum jack stands!

FYI had I realized that you can use the 20% off coupon on one item only I would have brought along two coupons for the two pairs of jack stands and saved another $7.

I had the same jack from harbor Freight when I lived up in Massachusetts only it was gold anodized… it was a great little jack… broke my heart to sell that baby.

Now through the info in this thread not only do I get to replace it but also for $30 less than what I had paid for the same jack up in MA!

I am a happy man! Thanks!

Official Description from Sears.com:

Craftsman Professional 4 Ton Jack features an 8,000 lbs. maximum capacity. Lifting range for this jack is 4 inches to 20 inches. Low Profile/High Lift feature can be used for all vehicles, including SUVs and those with high chassis. Rear casters pivot 360 degrees for easy maneuverability. Heavy duty chassis for added strength and durability. Jack features an overload valve system which helps prevent equipment failure and provides safe operation. Bypass system provides safe operation. Measures: 29.27 x 15.31 x 7.07 in. Wt. w/ handle is 101.32 lbs.

Not for the faint of heart or weak of wallet at $189.99, but I had to have something to lift my Z06 and Z71. I was not about to store two jacks, and this one does both perfectly.

I got one of these this year as well. I used my "Super Coupon" and got it for $59.99...! Works fine as an additional jack to get the car up on all four corners..

Let's see:

First off is anyone in here dumb enough to climb under and work on there car without jack stands? I don't know many people who do.

What the hell is a hein-werner jack? Never heard of it in my life. Never seen that website in my life. Been to plenty of shops never seen a jack like that. So the price is high it must be quality right?

Buick Grand National people cheap? Where the hell did that come from? Grand Nationals were not cheap then and sure are not now. Was that the cheap man's wannabe vette back in the day or something? I just don't understand that comment at all.

Next, i do take my jack with me on vacation. I use it at the track, use it at friends house, use it at work. The light weight really makes it nice to carry.

Now where can you possibly find a jack that works as well as the harbor freight for $59.99. With the 2 year warrantee which was under $20 i can take it back for whatever reason and exchange it if it fails to work. I can renew the 2 years over and over as many times as possible. I don't know about you but i don't mind spending $20 every 2 years for a jack that will last the rest of my life.

Oh and one more thing when the "buy american" thing really has something that is competetive and worth it to buy then i will. As of right now i am content.

Had the same jack, which has now been trashed. "Professional Series" my ***. Didn't even get 2 years out of it from occasional use. After a year it started to take for ever to pump up. Bleeding the hydraulics didn't help. Then the seal broke it was done. Biggest waste of $190 i ever spent. Hope you have better luck. Oh ya and that thing weighs a ton.
