If you are going to go thru with replacing the balancer either by yourself (a PITA but definately doable) or the Stealership....most definately have the oil seal on the timing chain cover replaced at the same time.....or in the future you will be doing the same work all over again....Good Luck....Chuck
Just out of curiosity, have you felt inside the center of the balancer to see if the bolt that holds it on is loose?
Might check, even might put a socket on in and give it a grunt or two. It should NOT come loose easily at all. Massive torque on that bolt. All the new bolts have diamond uncrusted heads that 'dig' into the balancer when putting a couple hundred pounds of torque on it to keep the bolt from backing out.
.
Hard to see the wobble, but it's there - look about mid way through where you can see the belt 'walking' back and forth while coming across the alternator pulley. Can also see that the belt jumped a couple of grooves as it was backing off the crank.
GM fixed it for free labor - I just had to pay for the "new" $18 bolt.
