Default First Corvette 4 Days 4 Problems

Gotta love it.. Just purchased my first corvette. In the first four days I lost a cat, air pump system problem, "noticed" harmonic balancer had a little wobble, and moved the HUD and the dang thing fell out of sight and to the left. Got a "good deal" from the stealership but somebody please tell me after I fix all this stuff I will have a reliable vehicle. Found some fixes off the forum but I don't know if I want to tackle the harmonic balancer. Anybody know if the Powerbond balancer everybody uses is the Powerbond oe replacement that Oreillys sells or is it a upgraded Powerbond?

BTW its a 2003 with 78k

If you bought it 4 days ago I would go back to the stealership and see if you can get them to fix anything.

Good advice and hopefully they will work with you. Believe it or not, the C5 is a pretty reliable platform.

Well I read up on the cars best I could and looked over it for about 2hrs. I worked as a motorcycle tech for a couple of years and also know alot about diesels...thanks to my dodge...I was kinda in a pinch and had to get a car asap, wifes car lost a timing belt. Im not worried about the parts because my dad owns a carquest but I stay busy working out of town so the last thing I want to do is work on stuff when I get home. I may contact the dealership and see what they can do but I need the car fixed on Friday.

One thing I can say is that I am very impressed with the handling of the car. Very nimble and not too slow. Not sportbike fast but its equally fun to drive.

The dealership should take care of all of that. I would make sure the harmonic balancer gets fixed right, if not you could loose the engine

The C5 is like any other car in that if it is taken care of, generally it is very reliable. Sounds like the dealer did the ol two step and dumped a car they wanted to get rid of..either that or they are lazy like most dealers are. My guess is they bought that car off another owner and wanted to quickly turn it around and get rid of it.

Hope you get everything sorted out

Well I guess you get what you pay for...I mean the car was not cheap. Seems to be taken care of not a scratch on it and does not leak-burn a drop of oil, 6 speed shifts good, good brakes, perfect interior. I think I will always own a corvette from now on I just want to get this one back in shape so I can enjoy it worry free.

Hopefully the dealer will step up to the plate like they should. The biggest thing is if you have a problem with the harmonic balancer, the other stuff is minor and should be able to be fixed pretty easy.

I am sure everything will work out. Congrats on your new ride! and Welcome

Take it back and make the dealer make it good. When I bought mine I had to work through similar problems but know I have a Crown Jewel! It was worth the problems and now I have the experience that was learned form each defect.

I'm gonna guess the steering column locks up tomorrow.

The following day will have your right headlight not popping up.

On Friday, pretty sure your battery will have leaked, ruining the HVAC wiring.

Uh...Well, when you look at the harmonic balancer from the top you can see it running back and forward, not up and down and the belt is moving ever so slightly. Probably only 1/8-3/16inch but I think it should be running true all the time.
