Default I see the problem.....

If you bought that car at Bill Holt's.. you are not the first to have a nightmare of problems with one of his cars.. I hate to say that But over ten years Ive see way too many stories about Bill Holt on this forum ... some even said its amazing that no one has taken him out...or drove their car through the front window...

Congrats on the new ride looks great! I have a stock H pipe with two good cats we could work something out on if you end up needing to DIY, your not to far away from me. Also have all the air pump parts you need, most of the time this system gets deleted when putting on headers, just took the system off my 02. The HUD is a simple fix just takes a little time to do it, repaired mine last month with a DIY thread i found here on the forum.

Yet another example of how great a resource this forum is (that would be the people that make it up)

I think I will always own a corvette from now on I just want to get this one back in shape so I can enjoy it worry free.
Like you we got our first Vette a 2002 Z06 last November and driving it home from South Carolina got an intro into some of the little gremlins that these cars can have!
I love my Vette and have heard Vette owners say they are great cars, one guy put 340,000 miles on his, many others lots of miles too, the drive trains with maintenance are very durable.
I expect little things to come up but like one guy said don't let those little things get in the way of enjoying the car.
The pluses in power and handling far outweigh the litle bumps on the road!

I'd insist the dealer either fix those items or take the car back. I've owned my C5 ( used) for 6 years and haven't had 4 issues/problems. That's just not right!!!!

Don't worry the forum will help you out here (as you can see). There is nothing that scares me on these cars knowing I have a thousand other owners that can help me troubleshoot a problem. A lot of smart guys on here and between all of us we have unscrewed every bolt. Don't let the first few days get you down. Get this stuff solved and your going to have a fun summer.

Thanks everyone! I also belong to a Kawasaki z1000 forum and a Dodge Cummins forum and I have to say ya'll are by far the most helpfull. Glad I found this place. Going to try and change the balancer Friday. Hope it goes well. Does anyone know if the Haynes-Chiltons manuals are worth the $20? The one for my truck sucks but mainly because they dont show how to work on the FI system-which pretty much is the only thing that messes up on those trucks...I hate me some bosch

I'd try getting it fixed free first. Kind of a pain replacing the balancer.

Like what? I am not doubting you but I have never lost a race to any car when I used to ride Gsxr. My zed (z1000) is not a supersport but it will still cruse at 150 if you can hang on. No wind screen, its rough on the arms.

I helped build a 650hp (to the tires) blown, foxbody mustang, tremec t6 tranny and its not quite as quick as the zed.

Anybody ever had your car up to 180mph? Just wondering how they handle. My gsxr would do 184 indicated mph and it handled like a spaceship at that speed (as in hang on and drive a staight line)

Changing the harmonic balancer is technically not complicated, just more of a pain in the Azzz. I had to replace mine cuz over other problems I won't get into here..

You have to remove the entire steering rack out of the way, the radiator, ac condensor, altenator, powersteering... air intake ,tb... its a pain but I did mine with the help of a few friends in the garage. I would had it done in one day, but found a ripped axle boot, and it was 8pm friday could not get the part in time...so had to wait til next day.

good luck

in our state, there is an automatic warrantee based on price from 30 days to 6 months, go back give them the list if they say no, go to your DMV dealer division and file a complaint, they will contact the dealer and tell them to resolve the issue otherwise face penalties which could be closer, fines, buying the car back, paying for a rental during repairs, etc. i did this on another car and before i left i was getting a call asking what they could do.
anyway, just my two cents

As a used car dealer, I could not imagine giving a 30 day warranty on a used car. Fact; they are used and things break, heck even on brand new cars. Thankfully in FL, we sell a used car with a Buyer's Guide "AS-IS"...

Once again, this has nothing to do with how reputable a dealer is, just the fact that used cars break, some sooner than later. We encourage all potential buyers to do extensive test drives and allow them to take the car to an independent mechanic; it's all about due diligence!

I understand Fl, as i am a real floridian, I was born there and yes FL does have a different set of rules when it comes to there used car sales, like you have right up to the second you sign the papers to get any and all money back if you chose to withdraw from the deal, however since he is in GA he may want to see what his state does for consumers that get taken for a ride. considering the cost to repair these cars is not cheap and it is only several days old on the sale.
I guess it comes down to whether or not the dealer is stand up or not and that in the end is what should be addressed IF he is able to do so. Dont you think.

It really has nothing to do with whether the dealer is "stand up" or not. Once again, we are talking about used cars here and they break. If you want a guaranteed car with no repair expenses buy new.

My heart tells me fix it if it breaks soon after purchase, sure. But, as a business owner I could not, margins are slim now, and there is simply no way for the small to medium dealer with no in house mechanic to stay in business if we fixed all the break downs.

If you go back to the dealer they will only make more problems... I wouldn't let that dealer work on your vette after hearing what they done in the past.. I replaced the harmonic balancer on my 97 by myself with a friend stopping by to help at night.. I did not have to remove the radiator or ac,,, but had to pull the steering rack and getting that bolt cranked to proper specs was a pain.... I fixed the rocking chair seat problem for 2 dollars and the harmonic. b. and everythings been fine so far with my 97.. They are pretty reliable in my experience...
