if it's too low to go through a carwash it's too low to clear speedbumps , which in my case renders it useless

I'm new to owning a vette. I have 3 other vehicles to choose from in bad weather. I live in Texas. I have lots of time to drive my vette when it's not raining, so why drive it when it is?

I bought it to drive it.

It is my main means of transportation, my weekend cruiser, my showcar, and my trackwhore all in one.

Sometimes I even use it to haul lumber and pick up the occasional large christmas decoration.

Couldn't bring myself to commute in my 13k mile Z06 so I am getting a vert for DD duty. And it will see rain and shine.

11 year stattistics from 1995 - 2005

Dry/Clear weather condidtion accidents 4,802,260
Rain and/or wet pavement combined accidnets 1,116,612

In short you are 4 times more likely to be invoved in an accident in dry/clear weather vs rain/wet...

Not quite sure where you are from it's not listed, but I usually drive my car from mid March to mid November so that is approx 250 days. Sure it's not every day but it's sure alot more than 100 days a year. And not being a daily driver it's still a rush every time I do get to drive it. But the best part is it is always spotless when I do drive it. I look at some of the daily drivers and with snow and salt and all the rest of the crap that goes along with it i just would not do that to my car. Again it's my car and thats how I choose to take care of it.

Also statistics show most accident occur within 25 miles of home so do you always drive at least 26 miles or more from home. Did you also look up the difference between the time difference the roads are dry compared with the days they are snow and ice covered? Apples to oranges! where I come from we get alot of snow and ice but the roads are still only covered for a day or two after a big storm. My point is why take the chance, obviously your car must be stock if replacing it is so easy.

I'm 61-years old and I've been around the block a few times. As someone else mentioned, I'm not stupid or naive enough to think that my car is going to melt or that rain will hurt it. Many of you will be equally astonished to know that I've never washed my car.

I get a kick out of people telling me that I don't "enjoy" my car because I don't drive it all of the time. Are those of you who say that mind readers? I bought my car 10 years ago as a toy. Nothing more. Nothing less. During that time, I've spent a close to $50,000 on mods. I have a very nice TrailBlazer SS that I drive in the rain and snow.

Telling me how I should use/drive my car is much like someone telling me I should like pizza because you do.

Frankly, I don't care if you don't like how I choose to use my car or not. I paid for it. You didn't. Actually, it baffles me as to why someone would even care.

For those of you who will respond by saying that I'm just keeping it nice for someone else, you are correct. My son will get it if something happens to me. I've wanted a Corvette since I was a kid, and this is my first and last one. I "enjoy" my car because I know I can drive it on a beautiful summer day if I choose to do so. I also "enjoy" cleaning and waxing it on days that I don't want to drive it.

I don't think of those who drive in the rain/snow as odd or different. For some of you, it's your only car. I think it's great that you enjoy your car as you see fit. The bottom line? Who really cares how someone else uses their car as long as they enjoy it.

Sorry Sir wish that was true. Your math would only apply that way if it rained the same number of days each year as it was sunny. You are actually much more likely to crash in the rain since it rains SIGNIFICANTLY less than it is sunny.

Boy:
Looks like I hit a hot button with this post.
I was just curious as to how many drive in the rain. I have no opinion as to whether or not you should drive in the rain. Personally, I try to aviod it if possible. If I am out and get caught in the rain thats the way it goes.

We have three vehicle's
Corvette, Xtreme Blazer, and a Durango

Bought it as a Weekend car as my commute to work really sucks.
23 Miles is a One hour drive in lots of Bumper to Bumper traffic.

I wont go out of my way to not drive the Corvette in Rain, but if I have a choice I don't.

Just giving you a hard time. Since it's the finish I worry about most in a car wash, perhaps a belly-washer would be okay. I would worry about water spraying up into the engine electronics etc though.

If I had to clean the undercarriage, I would probably find someone with a lift and steam cleaner.
