I have not done a track day with them but have autocrossed. For autocrossing they are light years better the stock seats. I don't have a harness setup yet. I'll be installing that in the spring.

Assuming by rake you mean seat base angle, most people adjust the rake by adding washers under the front of the seat bracket (where it attaches to the floor). I'd suggest using a couple fender washers against the floor to spread the load.

I have two or three washers under mine. I also removed the studs and replaced them with bolts to get the proper thread engagement (I also have a Vetteworks sub belt bracket that attach the front studs). I did a write-up a while back on how to do it.

It's hard to compare an adjustable vs. a fixed back for track/autocross use. They are completely different animals. No adjustable seat will hold you like a fixed back seat. However, it is a royal pain in the a** to get in an out of a fixed back seat on a daily basis. It is also difficult to use the stock belt with a fixed back seat (probably not safe if you're thin). I'd only recommend a permanent fixed back seat on a car that does 90% track/autocross use. A couple guys I track with swap in a fixed back seat for track days and go back to the stock seat for street use. It would be worth getting rid of the studs if you chose this option because they'll wear out.

I have the A4's in microsuede. The microsuede provides a lot of grip to the seat and they work well with a 5 point harness. I'd prefer a double latch on the seat back (latches on both sides) but there isn't enough flex to where I'm worried about it. I ran a track day with the stock belts (I forgot to clip in the lap belts for the harness) and was really surprised how well they kept me in place. I've had mine for about 4 years and the material is holding up well.

I just installed a set of A4 seats with the shaved base, and to be honest, I am not as impressed as most people seem to be.

Minor complaints.... (AKA I fixed these issue pretty easily)
A) The Corbeau seat brackets were bent
B) The seat rails were crooked the holes didn't line up with the seat

The bigger complaint that I have, is that these things barely fit in the car. In fact, I would go as far as saying they don't fit, but that it is possible to bolt them in. There is zero gap between the side bolsters and the door sill / center console. Moving the seat forward and backward is almost impossible, and there is so much pressure put on the seat from the lower seat belt mount on the door sill, that there is no way it won't damage the seat over time. I was told before installing, that these need to be installed with the seat back adjustment lever on the inside, center console side, but that it would still be accessible. Again, just because I can technically force my finger tips down there enough to reach the lever, does not mean it is accessible in my opinion. The result is I can BARELY adjust the seat in either direction, and it is so difficult to do it, that it would not be possible to adjust it while driving. I could barely do it with the door closed.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is it possible Corbeau accidentally sent me the WIDE version? I haven't compared dimensions to the spec on the website, but I am thinking out loud at this point.

The problem is the area where the seats are installed in a C5 are the NARROWEST of ANY car on the market. A Miata has more space for seats than a C5!

With some guys realigning how the brackets fit on bottom to give better alignment in the seat space...then the reversing installation and modifications. I questioned whether it was worth it and thinking of Evolution or even EvolutionX instead since designed specifically with C5 in mind.

Evolution will NOT fit the C5 or C6 Vette... the EvoX will BUT you need to drill the seat bracket to move the seat over to fit properly. The Evolution and Evolution X WAS NOT DESIGNED SPECIALLY for the C5 in mind.. if it was you wouldn't have to drill the brackets

I am just going by the CORBEAU website that clearly states for the EvolutionX

"The Sportline Evolution X is the newest addition to our Sportline series of seats. The Evolution X was inspired by the C5 and C6 Corvette. As most Corvette owners know, seating options are limited due to the small cockpit area of the vehicle. Because of its unique design, we thought our Evolution seat, which is the reclining version of the Evolution X, would be a perfect seat for the C5 and C6 but unfortunately it was just a little too wide down by the reclining mechanism. The seat looked so good that we had to figure something out. That's when we decided to eliminate the reclining mechanism making the seat just narrow enough to fit in the Corvette. "

That is one I am looking at...as I never recline my seat and the lever is part of the width problem.

Actually if you redrill the holes for the A4 on the bracket you can mount the levers on the outside

Could I get a quote for both the A4 in Suede + brackets and the Evolution X + brackets? My zip is 46062.

Thanks!

One thing I did before installing the seat was to bend the adjuster so it rests flush along the side of the seat base. I removed the plastic cover from the adjuster handle. I think I used the butt of a small screw driver to support the handle at its base and bent the handle toward the seat base. Then reinstalled the plastic handle cover. It should be flush against the seat base. This way when you squeeze your hand between the tunnel and seat, you can't help but grab the adjuster handle (just curl your fingers). Don't get me wrong, it's still a PITA but I found it next to impossible to grab before I bent it in. Some folks have drilled a hole in the handle and attached a tether to make it easier to grab.

Another thing I did was notch the bracket where the stock seat belt buckle mounts to the new seat base. If you look at the bottom of the buckle bracket there is a tab that restricts the range of motion. I found that mine would move up quite a bit less than the stock seat thus restricting access to the to the adjuster lever. Notching the base, where the tab contacts the base, allows the buckle to swing up higher allowing easier access to the seat back adjuster. I suppose you could also bend the tab up and out of the way or cut it off altogether. However, allowing the buckle to go too high may reduce the effectiveness of the stock belts.

Usually the plastic/rubber bolt cover (where the seat back attaches to the base) is what restricts the seat motion. It rubs against the plastic sill cover. I removed mine on the driver side and the seat moves smoothly and the bolt doesn't scrape the sill cover. The passenger side doesn't seem to be an issue. You could try trimming the bolt cover but I didn't bother.

Was lucky enough to find a pair of well cared for leather Corbeau A4's locally from a great forum member who actually installed them for me today. Wanted to say thanks to Toque for the install instructions as we put the 8 washers in the front of the seats and am happy with the results.

I am 5' 10'' with a 36 waist. I was a bit concerned about fit even after "test" sitting in them in the seller's car. But after a few miles of driving with them they actually are very comfortable and of course as everyone know with tons more lateral support. Quite impressed and no more rocking!

I sold my old seats back to the seller with the control module. I did lose my telescopic steering wheel movement (We set it to where I like to have it before disconnecting, so not a big deal). However, is there an easy way to get this back if I ever want to move it?

Thanks

I'm am just now getting around to installing the A4s.

To your point bolded above...the seat bracket mounting holes aren't even close to lining up with the holes in the seats.

I'm going to have to "round" each hole out so that the seat's mounting holes/screws work.

For being brand new items, it's truly unfortunate that the customer has to deal with the poor workmanship from the factory.

Okay...I must say that I was able to get one seat assembled by finessing the rails a bit and ever so slightly enlarging the holes in the rail. But now I've found a new issue. The plastic bezel in one of the holes in the headrest is coming apart (pics below). I've tried simply squeezing it back together, but it doesn't stay or snap together or whatever it's supposed to do. Any thoughts on how I can fix this? I hate to have to return it if I can fix this. Thoughts??

What are you guys doing for the passenger weight sensor? Anyone installing it on the new seat? What about the air bag light? I just got myself a set today and I need to ensure my airbags work properly and I don't want any lights. Please any help is welcomed.
