Default Conte's Corvette question

Hi

I have been following their site for a while and visited them once with a buddy and l'm completely confused. They seem to be moving C5's at a quick pace and l was wondering if they were really geting their price's!

If you have bought a C5 from them l would like to have an idea on how much they will trade from their listed price's.

Believe me l am not questioning the business just want to get a handle on how to do business with them.

Thanks

The way I see it is that all prices are the asking price...then there is the negotiating price. They installed my skip shift eliminator and I sold them my old stock hood when I upgraded to my ACP hood. Are they getting the asking prices, in todays economy I would thing they would be more likely to negotiate. Joe and staff are good people, best of luck

Yes l am aware of the buying and selling practices but that is not what l was asking.

I was asking a question to understand how much water was in their price's as a rule or whatever dealings you have had. The only price that they list is the orig listing price unless there was a change. Nobody would expect them to list an actual selling price.

Thanks

A while back I had contacted Joe about a car they had for sale; not a C5 though. As I recall there was not much room to negotiate on the posted prices. Keep in mind that he is a broker for many of these cars and does not own all of the cars shown.

Hi

All that l am asking is he posting a price for a starting point or is he rather firm?

I have no problem with a person making money running his or her business but l also don't want to be stupid.

His list price's for what he is showing seems on the high side for a specialist. I am talking about specific C5's in the condition, and miles shown. He is closer then most and would like to work a deal with him!

Thanks

Why don't you just call them...................

If you are a good negotiator you'll know the real price in a few minutes.

If you aren't a good negotiator it doesn't matter what others have gotten.

You can tell from prices (sold and bought) on here what the true range is. It shouldn't be a big deal to find out what the real sellable price is.

Just call them.

Hi

I have called and l have visited his place more then once but there is no sense to talk price until l see something worth while! Every vette that he buys is different so what one might be priced has no bearing on the other. I am willing to pay the price but what l don't want to do is over pay.

And as far as being a good negotiator is meaningless because the dealership knows exactly what their bottomline is and that's it. The art of the deal is to make you feel that you got a great deal. HAHAHA

Did you ever hear of a person who bought a new car or whatever say they got a crummy deal, of course not everybody thinks they got the deal or the century.

One cannot negotiate unless they know the lay of the land! And that's what l am trying to figure out! This is not a regular dealership it is a specialist lot that sells mostly used vettes so they use the same principal to sell a car from generation to generation.

Thanks

take the KBB retail value, and subtract about $5k and thats on average how much these dealers are picking up the cars at auction...

dont believe me...visit manheim

on edit here are the recent sales for an 01z

2D COUPE Z06 6SP 5,281 $25,800 03/05/10 MANHEIM 8G 6 Abv RED N
2D COUPE Z06 6SP 50,841 $15,750 03/18/10 LAS VEGA 8G A Avg BLACK Y
2D COUPE Z06 6SP 89,982 $15,400 03/18/10 ATLANTA 8G 6 Avg RED Y
2D COUPE Z06 6SP 92,543 $14,600 03/17/10 DALLAS 8G 6 Avg RED Y
2D COUPE Z06 6SP 56,363 $14,400 03/17/10 BAY CITI 8G 6 Avg SILVER Y
2D COUPE Z06 6SP 114,480 $12,000 03/18/10 SO CAL 8G 6 Blw RED Y

hmm it looks like these guys are overpaying for the vettes....or *gasp* the market for a C5 might be climbing!

KBB is a joke and as far as l am concerned is meaningless when we are talking vettes.

As far as Manheim the main site in Manheim Pa moves mainly C6's in their high line auctions and they are mostly 99% off lease vettes. As far as the C5's their prices have been moving up for almost 6 weeks.
But l wouldn't touch a C5 at Manheim .

Check dealer prices and you will be floored and they are selling them and will continue selling them through June when they will start to slow down.

well it seems like your armed with the knowledge you need to go in and offer them a price. If it doesnt work out then you know to walk away...like you said in an earlier post "The art of the deal is to make you feel that you got a great deal"
