I get everything from Ford Supercrew diesels, to Honda SU2000's... everything in between.. Unless it's a C6, another C5, Fbod ( running side by side) speeding up,slowing down, I just "clap" for them... Pisses em off more that raping them on the highway... Onward, bad ***..

 

HAHA... Last night a 2500HD tried to race me while I was driving the Solstice. So? Who cares? It's not a big deal. There's always going to be someone that tries to race you even if you drive a Carola.

I did try to run a guy in a Ferrari 360 while I had my Z06, and he wouldn't. I figured he wouldn't. But that's fine. Only thing that bothered me was that when I pulled up next to him (before trying to get a run out of him) and said "Nice car" he didn't even say thanks... Just turned his head forward and ignored me... Obviously not a car guy. Just a status freak.

 

This guy posts a story, and we again have some holier than thou people on here ripping him. People try to race me all the time. And for the poster who said he has been driving fast cars for a long time and no one ever tried to race him, well, I find that hard to believe. Maybe you live in a town where everybody is over 60.

 

Maybe... It also depends on how old YOU are too. I'm sure if you look like you're 90 years old, it's unlikely anyone's going to try to race you.

 

Actually, I think it mostly has to do with where you drive, when you drive, and YOUR mindset while you drive. Few people can see what you look like inside tinted windows. If you just go with traffic in the daytime driving like a normal person and thinking about work, people who tailgate and pass you are just other drivers. Possibly jerk. If you are out cruising the strip at 11:00p on Friday night, or weaving your way through traffic trying to get ahead jamming out to loud music checking out the other cars on the road and thinking about cars and performance, then not only do you attract more "racers," but every person tailgating and passing you or driving just as fast as you is trying to "race" you. Or in the OP's case, if you got into a fight with a new Camaro owner who thought his Camaro was faster than your Z06, you are predispositioned to think that new Camaro owners have a bloated sense on themselves.

If you are one of these guys who thinks people are trying to race you all the time, think about it. What is it about you that is causing it? Do you drive in a manner or in times and places that ask for it, or is it really just in you imagination? Because it really is not normal. Back when I was a stupid kid looking for a race at every opportunity, they were darn near impossible to find in normal traffic and difficult to find even on Friday and Saturday nights when I was seeking it out. Fast forward to now that I don't want anything to do with it, I drive the speed limit, and I'm not out driving through town on Friday and Saturday nights, and I've had one encounter in four years driving my Z06. Unless we include every time a person has tailgated me or passed me. Then yeah, I have encounters with people trying to race me all the time.

 

I don't have tinted windows and people see what looks like a 16 year old in the driver's seat so they immediately think I'd be willing to race. I'm 26 and still look like I just got my license. LOL

 

You know...its funny how you put something on the site, and some guy THIS ONE wants to be a dick and insult you. Well. ****-in-stall , for your information, I was on the highway doing 60-65 mph in the LEFT LANE , so I wouldnt exactly say I was going SLOW. Also why dont you ask why this guy is tailgating me in the left lane at over 60mph in a V6 Camaro? This ****sucker doesnt even know me or my driving habits. Instead of insulting me over something all us vette owners have experienced a time or two, why dont you lighten up and accept the fact that this is just an incident I thought I would share with the fellow forum members without thinking that some idiot hired you for ESPN. Of course I know that a V6 Camaro wouldnt outrun a Z unless it was parked. Or an RS or an SS.I havent been to the site in the last few days , but when I come back on ****-IN-STALL is hurling this B.S. Maybe ****-IN-STALL should get laid or smoke some crack and maybe hell loosen up.In the meantime try not to be such *****.

 

Im going to tell you a little tip that it seems a majority of the driving public, including yourself, fails to grasp. pay attention now because this is something you want to remember. the reason he was tailgating you in the left lane is because THE LEFT LANE IS NOT FOR DRIVING, ITS FOR PASSING ONLY.

THe camaro driver knew this, he wasn't trying to race you, he was trying to get you to move to the right so he could get around you.

if you're in the left lane, even if you're in a lambo doing 200+, and someone, ANYONE, in any type of car, is one your a$$, MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT AND LET THEM PASS. it is not a sign of weakness to allow a slower car in front of you.

My philosophy is that I'll probably never see that idiot again, so I keep on truckin at 65 getting 32 mpg on the freeway (take that Prius owners, plus my gas pedal doesn't stick causing me to crash n die). Unless I race, beat em and their GF kindly gets out and hops in, not worth the trouble.

The other day I was "tailgaiting" which is common practice in SD, this girl in teh left lane wouldn't get out of the way. Then when she finally did, she gave me the finger, best part was she was doing 60!
