The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The C5 is 6 t0 10 years old now. Stuff breaks and goes bad.

Never regretted buying it!
Make sure you get the car checked throughly at a Chevy dealership or a good shop of your choice. The money spent on this inspection will save you a ton of money and headaches in the future. I have a 98 C5 coupe with 77k miles, third owner, very reliable except for "service ride control" problem which was a bad ignition switch and cost me half and hour worth of my time using detailed instructions and photos posted here on a DIY thread.

I'm coming out of a 2007 Mustang GT convertible that I purchased new (actually ordered from the factory) that has been nothing but trouble. I've owned a lot of nice cars, but nothing, and I do mean NOTHING is like owning a Corvette. Mine gets lots of attention and is an absolute blast to drive. It accelerates and handles great and has an extremely good ride for a performance car. My wife loves the ride compared to the ride of our 07 Mustang GT and especially compared to our previous Mustang, a 1996 Cobra. The Corvette does have a few limitations that you'll have to adjust to, especially coming out of something the size of an Impala, specifically in the area of cargo carrying capacity. For me, the trunk is almost as big as it was in my Mustang. Another issue is the lack of convenience items like cup holders (although there is an aftermarket solution available for sale on this site) and the storage compartment in the console could be bigger. Those are very minor things compared to all of the things that I really enjoy about the car. And the gas mileage on these cars is truly amazing for a car with this kind of power.
I always call that GREAT FRIDAY,
I never intended it to be mt daily driver but it was so much fun I could not help it.
Me and that car have been from Canada to key west and New york to Arkansas,
In 2 years I put over 100,000 miles on it and aside from normal maintenance nary a problem.
Right now it has close to 220,000 miles on it.
It has never failed to get me where I was going and back home even after what I did to it last week.

After getting it out if a muddy field and cleaning enough mud off the wheels to get it moving it still ran like a charm.
When I drove it to the body shop the next day I went close to a mile with my hands off the wheel just to see how damaged the frame/alignment may be and it was straight as an arrow and still had the power to embarrass some local ricer who pulled up and laughed at me at a light when he saw the damage. I am not going to say much but lets just say he was not laughing long. I am sure his pride was hurt but nowhere as much as mine was the night before and being able to do that to him was great therapy for my mood.
Plus the guys here are a great support group if you have problems.
I also want to point out that the wreck would most likely not have happened had I not failed to make sure the Traction Control was plugged in correctly when I had part of the console off earlier in the week. I am not blaming the car I have from day 1 said the wreck was 100% MY FAULT.
Get the Berkley girl to ride with you on a nice long interstate ride an 70-80 and show her that you can get between 30 to 35 MPG and you still have a chance with her.
I can honestly get 2 to 3 MPG more when I can find 100% gas with no ethanol but that is getting harder and harder to find. The places that sell it are always busy even if there is a big box place next door with gas 2 or 3 cents cheaper.
sometimes if you really want to have fun find one of those guys that will drive across town to save 2 cents on a gallon of gas. Normally those guys are worse the higher gas is. Sit down and put it on paper and show them how much money they loose by driving those extra 10 miles to save 2 cents in 15 gallons of gas.
That is .30 cents saved. 95% of the time they lost money and wasted gas.
