Default Should I get a Corvette?

I'm thinking about getting a C5. I currently have a 1995 Impala SS I've had it for about a year and a half, and it's been one problem after another. I love the car but it's 15 years old and becoming a headache I want something newer that I don't have to worry about giving me constant problems. So my question to all of you. If I get an 02 03 or 04 am I looking at the same type of issues? Have you guys had alot of problems/constant maintenance repairs? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The C5's are quite reliable compared to most GMs made in that era. I've had 5 GMs all from 97-2004 and my C5 was the most reliable out of them all. The only issue I had was easily fixed with a $50 part and 30 minutes of time. After that, the car was bullet proof. Some people have had lemons, but the majority of people on here have had very few problems with their C5s.

Of course, though, you're on a forum, so with the million Corvettes out there, you're going to see a lot of "this broke" and "something's wrong with..." threads. The good news is that if something does go wrong with the C5s, it's usually an easy fix.

IMO, the only issue is that it's a PITA to change the oil.

I have a 98 Corvette and (knock on wood) has been bullet proof. Go for it.

Good choice in a C5 and good investment.

It's a good "personal" investment, but you're not getting your money back on it.

Vettes are very reliable...more so than the "high" quality Porsches...not all American cars are bad...

As long as is not going to be your only car or a daily driver I would say go for it.

Be aware maintenance costs for the C5 or C6 will be a lot higher than the SS

Less reliable than our Rav4, more reliable than my '95 Z28.

I have 130K (s)miles on my '01. It has had some of the common issues
oil pressure sensor, dim AC display, Door Control module, wheel position sensor...
But I fixed all those with DIY's from the Forum.
it is a great car.... go for it.

The only problems I have found with my 01 with 30,000 miles is the oil burn issue in 2000 and 2001 models. I swiched oils and Issue is much improved. And the balancer is starting a very slight wobbel and chirps when cold. I am watching it very close because I would like to do a cam swap when I replace it and my wife saying I have to sell some toys or work more hours to spend that much right now

I've had both a 98 and a 04 C5 and they have both been trouble free.
