Just look at the picture in the avatar - it's going to be a very long time before the beauty of these cars gets old.
Our C5 is 10 years old - looks like new - two neighbours have early release C4,s - they look a little dated and not pretty but still both in mint condition.
The other neighbor has a black 76 that looks old but is one hot car. I believe the C-5 will still be a hot car 20 years down the road.

I had to get a jump today, and the guy asked me if it was an '08. I just smiled and said nope it's an '02. Then he goes wow this thing is mint. Just more proof that the C5 might be old but we are the only one's that know that.

I got my 04 Z06 new over 6 years ago now. It still feels very new to me because I keep it that way. It is as close to flawless as the day I got it (few rock chips you can't avoid). I work hard to keep it as perfect as I can, and enjoy the hell out of it every weekend. Some of the guys at LG's joke with me that in the future GM can use my car as an example for restorers to refer to. Its that clean inside and out...
I still turn around and stare at the lines as I walk away from it in a parking lot. I still even peek in on it in my garage occasionally... . My wife says I have a sickness. She is prob right...
I get just as many looks and thumbs up now, as I did the day I bought it. The engine sound (Cam) , and the stance helps...
I refuse to modify the exterior because I think GM got it right with this design..... Exterior mod parts popularity will come and go as time moves on.... The stock exterior look will NEVER go out of style.... Has anyone seen the "cool" exterior mods that came and went in the 70's and 80's ?

I think you're exactly right Toque. I think GM got it right for sure. I'll never forget the first time i saw a C5 on the road. All i could say was wow. My "old" 98 has 120,000 plus miles on it but it still looks and runs good.
My 'vette might be 10 years old now, but driving it has made me feel 10 years younger! That feeling alone is PRICELESS! Oh, and yes, folks think it's a new car
my OLD 99 has 31000 miles on it and still looks new other then a couple small mods
Your right it looks great from the factory but i wanted to put my little touch on it.

I am predicting the C5 will go down as the most attractive body style of any after C2. Even the C7 renderings are not as stylish as the C5. I completely skipped C6 because of the ugly front end and the shortened rear...huge mistake IMHO. Incidentally, my 'first day' C5 was born on 10-26-96 which makes it almost 14 years old! But it still looks fantastic...
I have to say,,while it may be getting "old",,,but I live in the moment,,and don't really think about it's age!! Now when a problem pops up,,it kinda reminds me of the fact it is 10 years old,,but when I'm driving I just smile!!
Most people think the c5 is a new car and don't believe me when I tell them it is 8 years old. Most people don't think of how old vette's are they just see an expensive sports car, a lot of people think I am rich because I own two, a c3 and a c5 and I have to just laugh because I could not buy a newer used c6 for what I have combined in the c3 and c5. I think a lot more people who think of corvette's as dream cars would actually buy one if they would research the prices instead of assuming that corvette's are expensive rich peoples cars.
But it is getting old. Here in Iowa, license plate fees drop as the car gets older. When I first bought the '99 (2003), it cost me over $600 for the license a year. I just got the registration the other day, it is $40.
And my '75 vert............$17

You should probably donate it to charity or scrap it. I bet you are ashamed of driving that rattle-box
Mine however, is like a brand new car (only 26,000 miles on it) and I have only had it for 4 months. I am proud to drive mine and MANY love it too. I will keep it for years to come and it will always look like a beauty. I am a PROUD OWNER of a C5 and am thankful I have been blessed with one.

I don't think anyone kids themselves into believing that the C5 is a new car - but it is a car that has classic lines, still competitive performance and puts a smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel. Not many new cars can claim those attributes.
Old or not, as stated, people who don't know any better still think they are new, expensive cars. I have people at my work who make WAYYY more money than me calling me out as spending big money, when they are driving brand new escalades and f250's and such.
Older car, yes... but it's still a super hot looking old car!
I think it's very hot! Most people that I know who see me in it, and that I run into anywhere tell me that I have a very hot car, and that how many girls get to ride in it. I then tell them "just one at a time and laugh." It's kind of ridiculous, but people seem to know me more because of the car than anything else. Go figure?
