Default lets talk brakes

so i recently replaced the stock z06 brakes & pads with some aftermarket slotted ones, with new pads, i got them for 225$ brand new( still wrapped i plastic) off these forums. When i brake hard form 140MPH or 160 by the time i get to 60 they are shaking as if the pads are warn uneven or warped rotors, im sure they are some cheap china rotors n pads should i change my brake setup or try new pads? any suggestions

You might need to take it apart and scuff up the rotors and pads, and then bed them in properly.

More then likely you have deposits on the rotors from the pads. Rebedding them may work as previously suggested. However this will most likely happen again the next time you try and haul the car down from triple digits. The pads you bought probably are not made to operate in that temperature range. Go to stoptech's website and read about pad composistion and how it affects the rotors. Good reading, and I have first hand experience with what they are refering to. I had ceramic pads on my Z for a time because they are quiet and clean. But the shaking under braking got so bad it felt like I was stopping on a cobble stone road. I was sure the rotors were warped. Took them off and put them on a lathe, and they were straight as an arrow. Replaced the rotors, as the stock ones are cheap, put a set of Hawk HP plus pads on with ss brake lines and RBF 600, and have never had that happen since. Now I have found that the Hawk pad is overly agressive on the rotors, so next time I will probably try a different pad, but will definately look for one near the 1000 degree F operating range.

What you are experiencing is pad fad do to excessive heat. ie your pads are melting.

From 160 down to 60 your looking at pads that can take 1400-1600* Those are race pads.

hawk DTC-70s, PFC-02 or 05s, Cobalt

The challenge with pads like that is they dont stop well for normal 50 to 0 stops
