door lock problem
Does any one know about or heard of a c5 that honks and locks the door on its own? My 1999 started doing this the past month. Occasionally while the car is parked in garage I hear the horn sound. Yesterday when I got out at the gas station to fill up I shut the door with the key in the ignition and the horn sounded and locked me out.
After standing there for about 10 minutes the horn sounded about 5 times and then I heard the click of the door unlocking. Needless to say I won't be leaving the key in the ignition again until I get this fixed. Thanks for any insight into this problem.

Or the fob could be going bad.

Passive mode on the key FOB. Turn it off and it should get better. If not replace the FOB with one from a 2000. That year GM did away with the passive mode and that is the last year compatible with the early cars (1997 - 2000).
