Problem: I have a 99 coupe. Bose audio. 90% of the time, the LF door speaker sounds like it's blown. Bad. However, every now and then, it's just fine. Play it at any volume and you'd think it was brand new.
I don't know if this will help, but I heard that the emblem badge sometimes will work loose and buzz or rattle like a bad speaker. You might check that and if loose, glue it back into place. Hopefully, that will fix your problem.

Had the same problem in mine. Nused speaker solved it. From what I hear, it's the mid-range portion of the speaker. The reason it doesn't do it all the time, is that the music you have on at the time doesn't have enough mid-range to make it buzz.

Well, that's better than hearing a bad amp or head unit. Thanks Sneakelman. I will go looking for a LF speaker.
I have been battleing a similar problem with my passenger door speaker. Sometimes it sounds like a tazer going off. It only occurs when I have it on a radio station and never on a cd. There really doesn't even seem to be a pattern to it either.
