My wife has called it the "OTHER WOMAN" It's funny, so i'll tease and tell her that I rubbed the headlights and it didn't complain
Rubbed it's butt and no complaints either and rode it hard and it rewarded me with sheer excitement - she laughed and said you can sleep wit the Vette in the garage tonight
It's fun, she knows there are many things I could be doing and working on the Vette is good with her, especially since I am just outside in the garage
Imagine what I say when she has taken the Vette out for the day when I am at work
Sorry to bust your bubble, but you are 100% wrong here. We have a great marriage. Just over 4 years, and a 4 month old daughter. It is kinda like how I don't understand her need to continue to buy shoes. I guess we both need a little help.
Well I need some help here. It is the wife or the car. My wife has called my car "the rust bucket for a while now. She found out today that it is made of fiberglass, so that blew that argument. She is now calling my car a barbie car, because barbie has a corvette. Was it this tough for all of you to get your better half to like your car.
If it bothers you, just ask her to ease up with the nicknames. If you think it's cute, then move on
Lucky me, I found a woman that enjoys the vette as much as I do. In fact, I surprised her when I purchased it. I told her to help me move a box in my garage, then asked her to wait out in front of my garage, I stood by her, pressed my garage door opener and waited for her to faint. Well she did a "Haaa, Ohhhhh, surprise...". Not very well. She put two and two together, fellow Officers at the PD kinda spilled the beans and she knew I had purchased something big... But either way, we enjoy the C5 as offen as we can together.. Never let a material item affect your relationship, love is stronger than any vehicle... you may have other issues.... Find out what makes her smile and drive her to that place in the vette, you may change her mind... Good luck... PS there are things that can be done in the vette, if you know what I mean.....explore your vision, explore.... Pls do so in a garage and not in public... disclaimer if you pls.
Dude! The Vette thing goes into the pre-nup!!! - Along with poker night, Vegas trips with just the guys, motorcycles, boats, aircraft, cigars, choosing your own clothes, keeping ratty t-shirts, Not providing a key to the garage, leaving the seat up, working while the in-laws are visiting and the need for an extra large gunsafe in the livingroom.
Wife loves the car. Only thing she hates is that I won't let her drive it except for around the block and that UPS is always delivering presents for the car and not her.
My wife is not a car person per se. She likes nice cars, but does not understand the passion I have about a Corvette. She had encouraged me to buy one for years, but I didn't pull the trigger till April of 2009.
She has no interest in going to cruise nights or Corvette get togethers. I wish she did.
My wife bought my first Corvette ('88) and then a few years down the road, we bought a '99 Convertible. So my wife is totaly undestanding, especialy when she's in the drivers seat! So normaly I have to tag along with the '88 coupe. It's all good!
Humm well being married for nearly 22 years and owning a vet 16 of those years my wife has only ridden in my vet 3 times and 2 of those were because her honda was in the shop. The 3rd time was the night we went out on a so called repair the marriage date,, well to sum it up, been divorcded 4 years now and I have 2 vettes. I know I made the right decision. Not my fault the car is low to the ground.......and she likes to eat......hehehehehehehehehhe rICHARD
My girlfriend LOVES my car and she can't wait to take pics with it. Hopefully we'll go looking for skimpy outfits next week for a nice babe & Vette photo shoot.
My wonderful wife loves the vette and I am a lucky man
Same here. Plus it helps that we met in the corvette club and she has her own vette.
for the OP, sounds like she is jealous of your vette.
She wants that time you spend with your vette, spent on HER. or what ever thats' called.
Tell her if she gives you a ride with the thrill and excitement the vette does, does not complain, she can stay or get over it.
The vette stays.

I don't own a Vette, WE DO. Been married to my car gal for 50 years and she worries about the car more than I do. I feel sorry for you guys, however, I also have a feeling that "it's more than just the car" your wife has a problem with.
Sounds like many of you have some really cool women in your lives. I must admit mine puts of with a lot stuff from me too. I know she just says "rust bucket and barbie car" to mess with me. Just kinda funny.

There ya go...that may be her way of just "having a go at ya"...that's how aussies refer to teasing...which is what an aussie does if/when they like ya! They have a go at ya...or they "take the **** outta ya"!
That said...my wife Jane will sometimes call the vette..."the ole chevy" or "that money pit" (which is due to the mod virus that I recenty came down with...for example, she was a bit amazed that I would buy new wheels for it and have them delivered before the car even arrived ).
So Jane may take the **** occasionally, but I know that she appreciates the car and what it means to me. At the end of the day...we both love and enjoy our C5. And that makes the experience of owning/playing with it that much better.
