There a manual release inside on the back wall where the license plate mounts. You have to reach through from up front to get to it.

I am not sure on a vert but on my Z there is a wire at the latch that if pulled pops the trunk.

I found a wire that open the toneau cover but not the trunk--should there be two wires?

Interesting... I thought it said in the OM it opened the trunk. I went out and checked, it's located on the latch itself in the rear. How you are suppose to get to it is beyond me. Even with opening the tonneau and raising the top to it's vertical position I still cannot get to it.

Not real sure. How about a new battery LOL. ??

I just know where it's located. You're on your own as to how you get to it.

Come try it in mine. I have a partition wall installed between the passenger area and the trunk.

I actually believe it's more child safety / people locked in the trunk thing rather than a my battery is dead type of thing.

Since it was made for child safety, you grab a neighbor kid and tell him you'll give him 5 bucks to crawl from the back seat through the trunk and pull that little ripcord.

Carry a small jump starter that plugs into the aux.power outlet. Wait a short time as the current reverses into the car battery and pop the trunk.

If your vehicle is equipped with a convertible
top/hardtop and you have lost battery power, use the
manual release cable to open the trunk lid. To access
the cable, remove the center storage compartment lid
located in the rear of the trunk area. See “Rear Storage
Compartments” in the Index for more information.
Pull the cable straight down to release the trunk lid.
If your vehicle is equipped with a convertible top
and trunk release handle and you have lost battery
power, use the trunk release handle to open the
trunk. See “Trunk Release Handle” in the Index
for more information.

There is a glow-in-the-dark trunk release handle
located on the rear wall of the trunk below the latch.
This handle will glow following exposure to light.
Pull the release handle down to open the trunk from
the inside.

Make sure you keep it in the center luggage compartment so it's handy.

I like the "Hire a 4 year old neighbor kid" and shove him in there.

Sounds like the best method.

Those were all filmed before the escape latch was added.

See how well it works?
