I have a few items that I need to use double sided tape to secure to my C5.
I hear that there is some really strong double sided tape that body shops use for things like emblems and body molding.
Can someone tell me the mgf or name of the strongest double sided tape and where I might be able to get it?
Go to any car place like AutoZone and they have various tapes like 3M. They all have a professional type double sided tapes for the exact use you need. I've used it....and tried to take it off and it performed just like the OEM tape on your car.
3M VHB tape is among the most well-known of the super tapes. You should be able to get it at Home Depot or even Walmart, but if not, here's a source that has more options than you'd ever imagine:

3M stuff is really good and will keep things attached to the car very well.
If you don't have an auto paint supply source nearby, HOME DEPOT has 3M double sided tape in their paint department. I think they have two different widths (1/2" and 3/4", maybe 1").
Get the gray rubber type tape, not the white foam tape. The gray can be used out doors, but the white will not last long outdoors. I've used the gray product on several metal reproduction (heavy) exterior automotive emblems in AZ climate w/o failure.
NAPA carries a thinner black double sided tape which also works well. It's easier to cut than the gray tape.
For cutting the tape, use a very pointed tip EXACTO knife. Be prepared to experience a few initial failures when doing this. I applied the tape to the emblem and left the backing in place. Then I made the intricate cuts on a piece of glass while applying pressure to the emblem. Surface preparation is important, clean well with denatured alcohol to degrease the surface. Apply the emblem and some masking tape (if surface is vertical) to provide support for a few hours.
A caveat, do not use the tube adhesive products. 3M also offers that product. While their website says it's ok for exterior emblems and trim, the package fine print says it may degrade modern base coat/clear coat paint. From personal experience, it will soften/melt the clear coat.
