I know one of the problems with the LS6 engine is it is an aluminum block with very thin steel/iron cylinder liners. Cracked rings or destroyed rings can score the cylinder walls deep enough that they can't be cleaned up with .010 to .015 of an inch. My question is if you want to save your original engine block to keep your engine 100% original what can be done. Why can't the original liners be replaced if the aluminum block is OK. Are there any other options? With todays technology there must be a way to save original LS6 blocks. Thanks

Original cylinder sleeves are cast into the engine. not pressed. It can be resleeved, but it is far too expensive. When you get your block out, have a machine shop check it to see if it can be oversized. If you have a cracked or broken cylinder sleeve, toss it and buy a forged short block or one of the LS6 long blocks for about $3500 delivered.
Does anyone know for sure whether the engine has the car's serial number on it or a casting date. Why do some people get upset when someone tries to keep their corvette 100% original. Every corvette is collectible in my opinion. Did someone in 1980 think the 1967 big block would be worth $130K in 2010?

the older corvettes are worth money because there are lots of rich guys now that wanted one back then when they were kids and could not afford one but now days anyone who wants a corvettes buys one and they will not be wanting for one in 40 years
