My key fob quit working last week so I put a new battery in it and it still didn't work. Now I have 2 key fobs that don't work, I've tried re-educating but they're both stupid. My question is "Where's the cheapest place to get a new key fob for a 97 ?". Thanks folks.
If you take it apart and solder the contact point it will more then likely start functioning again. If you do a quick search there are some other threads with pictures.

Try Keyless.com-sponsor here. Around $25.00 shipped. I got a key and fob through them along with getting it cut locally and the total cost was less than just the key through the stealership.
Burgie has an 03. The fob he bought for $25 won't work on your 97. You need to contact Gene Culley at gmpartshouse.com You can buy a 2000 fob that will work with your car, but doesn't have the passive switch, or you can buy the correct fob with passive for your car. I haven't seen anyone's price any less than Gene's. I think the 2000 fob is around $60 plus shipping, but it's new. Don't pay 80 or more for a used one on ebay. If anyone tells you they bought one on ebay for 20 or even 40 bucks, check what year car they have and you'll see they have a 2001 or up.
I had the same thing happen to me....car not driven for several months...fob would not work. Replaced the battery...still no go. Then in a move of frustration I pressed the key pad very hard and it began to work.
