Default Cam choice help please

hey guys i have a 2002 z06 , mods are longtubes xpipe no cats , vararam vrb2(power duct), and a tune

looking at the forums i came across these options
LG G5x1-E
LG G5X1
AFR 224/228 (contact tony mamo or Hinson motorsports also sell them )
Comp cam 444 (224/230 114LSA based on XFI n Xe-r lobe).

im,on a budget so im lookin for a cam that will not be too hard on the valvetrain , and wouldnt need to change alot of parts , exept springs of course ?

any help would be appreciated .

For most street applications, I like a cam that's around 228-232 and under .6 lift, The two LG cams you list are that size, the E model is more emissions friendly, I think, but w/o cats, that's not an issue, eh? Of course you'll need better springs, too, which you really need regardless, for peace of mind. If you want a huge lope, you'll need to go bigger, and with a lower LSA, but drive/tune ability gets progressively worse the more you go, and overall performance isn't that much better than a X1 size cam. Personally, I'd go with the G5X-1 @ 114, which will have a noticable lope if the idle is not set too high, and if you decide later to SC, you won't need to change cams.

Very easy. England Green. Your only a couple hours away. I wouldn't go "budget" route on valvetrain stuff.

Getting ready to do a cam install myself. Think about what you want out of your car in the long run. Do you plan on just a cam install or is a good set of heads/fast/etc on the to do list. I pan on TFS 215, 102 fast intake/tb, EWP, etc to go on my 02z so i went with ECS BIG N/A camshaft. Give chris at ECS a call or PM. He has been great with helping me plan my mods

Call EG

budget and valve train should not be used in the same sentence.

save your money and think about what you really want from your car. see if anyone lives around you so that you can take a ride in a few z's with cam/heads mod.

XFI lobes will actually be easier on the valvetrain than XER lobes even though they have higher lift their initial ramp rates are slower...I have seen the XFI 224/230 113+2 make 430/400 in a cam-only c5z good avg imo

Are you doing the tune? If not, I'd discuss your choices and options with him before making a final decision.

The cams you listed show great results with stock heads too....

Good luck
