Default SuperCharger

Ok i am looking at Kenne Bell and Magna Charger. I know with the kb you get a new hood but with the maggie do you need to purchase another hood or will it fit under stock hood? Which will provide me with the best curve with a stock motor only other mods i plan to do are intake and headers Motor wise I will upgrade clutch and trans later I am going with a sleeper look well as sleeper as these cars can get. Only planning on around 7-8 psi . Any thoughts, comments, Pics of your install

Thanks
Reggie

You'll need a new hood with the maggie too. It's doesn't need to be as high as the KB.

I have the 2.6L KB on my stock '04 Z06 with a conservative tune @ 7.5 psi and I'm 510HP & 455TQ.

Any supercharger you pick will wake up the vette and put a permanent smile on your face!!!

On my 99 Coupe I have the Maggie with an MCM hood. It has been on the car for about 50K now and has been perfect. I currently have 106K on the car. I am at 8.5psi with a conservative tune 460 rwhp and 489tq. I also have headers and a small non blower cam as I didnt plan on FI when I had the cam done. I am running a stock C5 Z06 clutch and 3:42 rear end. I also added 335/30/18 KDWs to help with traction as the car is torquey as hell

hattitude, you are pretty much the only person I have seen post with a KB. My question is, did you upgrade your radiator at all? I went with a Dewitts as my coolant temps were getting up in the 230/240 range with the AC on here in Florida on a hot day. Now they stay down unless I am sitting in traffic with the AC on and even still it takes a bit to get that high so overall the Dewitts helped I was wondering if you noticed a significant increase with the KB

How about turbo, as sleeper as it gets.

No belts or pulleys, stock hood, and silent. Supercharge is cool but I'm just suggesting you look. I looked at KB before I bought and very happy this way. This TTiX can be turned down to 7-8psi, with lots of growing room to reach 18psi when you're ready.

With a hi rise hood for a maggie, it does not fall under "sleeper". Any one in the know are going to assume you have increased your HP., under the hood. I agree w/ Chris Stewart, turbo is as sleeper as it gets.

Or a centrifical SC. Boost rises steadily with RPM, easing shock to the driveline, and traction difficulties. Drive like it's a regular car, and get stock fuel mileage. All this, and much cheaper, too, and no giant hood.

There are numerous KB's out there, I think most gave up posting on this forum because just mentioning a "KB Supercharger" used to bring out the "haters"....... It's gotten much better, and I always avoid the "my supercharger can beat up your supercharger" threads..

To answer your question.... I had a DeWitts radiator installed at the time of my KB install. I don't know what the temps would be with a KB & stock radiator.

I did get up to 220 a couple times after playing in boost and then getting into stop & go traffic. But it cooled down to 200 or less after a few minutes. That only seemed to happen in over 90 degree temps. I almost always have the AC on during the daytime around here.

I've added the Spal fans (DeWitt's C5 fan upgrade kit) but haven't been in any really hot temps since the change. I can't remember seeing over 200 degrees since putting on the Spal fans.

There are definitely more hood options for the maggie.

I think there is only one (Jeff @ TPE was looking into a second choice) hood for the KB.

Well the STS turbo kit is 8495, that's a lot of money to spend compared to a good cam and head package.

Intake, Ported TB, Headers, Heads, Cam, Tune, and a good set of tires. Am I missing anything?

I agree. Crazy high price. You could get a Vortech installed and tuned along with full exhaust for that price.

Cost around $400 and the install was plug & play, about 30-40 minutes

I'd jump on it if I needed CARB approved. Before I bought, I was looking hard at KB and STS. The TTiX delivered beyond my expectation in quality and support.

As far as I know, all maggies need an aftermarket hood. There are many choices......

Edelbrock has a new series of superchargers. They don't have one for the C5 yet, but I believe they fit under the stock hood of the mustang and C6 vette, maybe even the new camaro...

I dont mind the hood so much i dont thik i wanna deal with the header deal to fit a turbo and twin screw is by far the most efficient when you compare the centrifical and twin screw How big is the cowl that comes with the KB? And price is a slight factor i wanna remain under 8k max i will be doing the install and purchasing a hptuner aswell
