The outside is a vinyl somewhat like a seat material. Very strong and easily cleaned. I wouldn't say it's a rigid frame (it folds up) but it is a solid frame, if that makes any sense. No modifications here.

Mine is the same as convertible top material. Not sure if that is vinyl. The only issue I have is that it is a little short and barely covers the corners of both windows. I bought it about 5 years ago. Don't see how you could modify it to drive with on.

I'd guess it is made of a Scotchguarded canvas with no rigid frame (metal). I have one and love it. When I stay local, my hard top spends most of the nice weather hanging on the wall in my garage with the Carbrella in the back of the car. It definitely is not designed to be driven with. Another company makes a canvas top that can be used while driving but it is only designed for the C3 and C4. Due to the concave shape of the C5 roof, the company apparently has not been able to design a driveable top for the C5.

It looks like the newer models are made of vinyl.I was thinking if there was a way of velcroing it on.

I have for a few years. I got my from Corvette America. I use it when I want to run in when we go out for breakfast / lunch. It has no security to it as it held on by suction cups on the side windows.

It keeps the sun of of the seats, bird droppings off the seat and prying eyes out of the car. We always lock it and set the alarm. If they reach in and open the door it will go off.

I recommend it for what it is.
