I run the HiTest stuff myself and my car isn't a garage queen, Premium is only a few bucks more a tank full, Why not?
I only use Chevron unless I have no choice then it is Texaco.
You can use regular and I dont think it will hurt anything, but it will make less power and probably leave more desposits which will effect stuff like the fuel level indicator.
I will add my Lexus is my DD and it also recommends 93. However, I only use 87 over 44K miles and everything runs fine. If it does not knock, it does not matter.
I use the 93 and ONCE in awhile when i feel rich i will fill up with the 100 but the manual states that the car will run fine with the mid grade 89 its only a small block 8 5.7 no different then they old 1969 350/400 camaro's which ran fine on reg..
Are you kidding? Anything with 10:1 compression or higher should be on a minimum of 91. I have an LS6 which is 10.5:1. I didn't put anything less than 91 in my LT1, and I certainly wouldn't do that to my LS6.
People who put less than premium in their LSx cars aren't all that concerned with the longevity of their engines.
91 from Shell, but it is 10% ethanol here in town. The 91 at the Sinclair is 100% gas. So I usually use the Sinclair unless I am out of town and can find 100% gas at a Shell station. I have a feeling though when Shell no longer sponsers Harvick at the end of this year, I wont be using Shell anymore...! LOL!!
Other than that, we only have a Kum & Go, I dont use their gas, EZ-Mart, dont use theirs either. Not much to choose from in good ole McAlester, OK.
I use whatever is under 3 bucks a gallon.
I find Shell V Power at just under 3 bucks in Bayonne, NJ or Sunoco on the turnpike. Everywhere else it's mid grade to keep it under my self imposed limit.
The car doesn't seem to care.
I run anything and my car doesn't care either I run tecron and some injector cleaner now and then replace the fuel fiter when you should and haven't had any problems at all 76k

Haven't seen one of these in a while.... 93 Chevron in the Vette----Regular in the truck...........I'll save the 3 or 4 dollars at the restaurant by getting a cheaper meal......
From: Wylie TX --> Less is More, except under the hood !
My car is specifically "tuned" for 93, and with a >11.1 compression ratio (milled 59cc AFR heads) I don't want to find out what happens running anything else.
I use Chevron 91 or better when I can get it. Don't have any premium where I live so I use what they have with a little octane booster and Techron added.
93....I have put 87 in it one time when I was in BFE, KY and that was the only options. Put under 6 gallons in it to get me to the next part of BFE, KY.

Ethanol actually increases octane. It actually helps in a few cases where you'll see cleaner valves and injectors because of it.
You'll see a drop in mileage due to that 10%, but that's the only draw back from the Ethanol.
I put 93 octane in mine. According to the owners manual, 91 octane or higher must be used. Engine knock is very bad for an engine and will cause severe engine damage over time which will by far outweigh any negligible savings realized from a 10 cent per gallon price difference. Besides the computer will retard the timing and cause a drop in fuel economy.
The difference is less than $2 per fill up. You spend more than that on junk food. If you don't think your car is worth $2 per fill up, you should sell your car and get something junky and crappy.
