Premium is RECOMMENDED FOR BEST PERFORMANCE.
You can use regular but it will result in slower performance.
It will not harm the engine. The computer will adjust for it.

Technology these days!
My Hyundai has a direct injection engine, and that's why it can use regular gas with 11.3:1 comp.
My Sonata has a 2.4 liter motor producing 198 hp.
When I bought my brand new Firebird Trans Am in 1987, it was a 5 liter V8 producing a whopping 205 hp.
Amazing.

My first car was a '79 Pontiac Bonneville with a 4-barrel 350ci. I'm pretty sure that car didn't have more than 160HP. Then I had a 97 LT1, 2002 LS1, 2002 LS6 and 2003 LS6...

I've decided to experiment a little and my last 2 tanks have been Plus (mid-grade) gas. Noticed in a magazine article that GM's LS6 Program Manager said that the car would run fine with no harm on Plus or Regular fuel. So far my '04 Z06 seems to be running fine. When I finish the second tank I'm going to check and see what my mileage has been.
I can't say that I've noticed any decrease in performance. A tap on the throttle still puts a big smile on my face. The comments from the GM manager in the article basically said that a little decrease in performance may be noticed under full throttle acceleration and at top end. Mine's a daily driver so not much full throttle acceleration or top speed running for me! My car currently has 95K miles on it.
Not recommending this for anyone else, and not trying to promote an agenda. Just participating in the poll and enjoying my Vette!!
To each his (or her) own. Let's just enjoy our fine autos!

The moment the car detects knocking or pinging, it retards the timing to prevent further predetonation. It won't hurt the motor when there's no pinging, but there is a definitely and noticeable loss in power and mileage.
My 300zx wasn't capable of doing this type of adjustment. I used 91+ no matter what and the car never had any issues. 19 years on the stock never-rebuilt motor. I lent the car to a friend and explained to him that only 91 octane can be used in the car. He said "you read too much". When I got the car back it was pinging really bad. So bad that it was sputtering if the load was too much. I asked him what octane he was using and he said "87, man. Octane ratings are BS and don't mean anything. They're a scam to get you to spend more money." I promptly said "You definitely read too much and you're reading crap. Don't borrow any of my cars anymore."
2 weeks later my car started over heating (like a blown head gasket type problem).
Newer cars can adjust, but why buy a nice car only to cheap out on the gas you put in it?
I use the 93 and ONCE in awhile when i feel rich i will fill up with the 100 but the manual states that the car will run fine with the mid grade 89 its only a small block 8 5.7 no different then they old 1969 350/400 camaro's which ran fine on reg..
...your kidding, right? Its a whole lot different than a 1st gen small block!
No garage queen here,,put around 10k a year!!! She gets a steady diet of 93 octane!! I will admit that once in a blue moon,,in the dead of winter,,and I'm just putting around,,I have topped of with mid-grade a few times,,maybe a 1/2 tank. Figure it averages to around 90-91 instead of 93. Don't do it very often. Never when weather is anywhere near nice,,only when it's FREEZING cold out!!
Premium only, but mine is NOT a garage queen therefore I could not vote.
If you cannot afford an extra dollar or two for a fill up, you should downgrade your car. Not trying to be an A** but you really should use premium fuel.
Vote this is the dumbest poll so far this year. Stupid.
And look at the choices offered... Premium, nothing but the best for my garage queen.
Any Corvette that's driven normally or aggressively as designed is going to damned well NEED premium unless you want the computer constantly pulling timing due to spark knock... Then it will dump you in the low octane tables killing 1/3 of your timing (and gobs of horsepower) compared to the high octane tables. What the hell does being a garage queen have to do with it?
The person who made this poll needs to turn in his man-card. I feel sorry for the next owner of his car.
