What are you running on. How important do you feel it is to use the Preimium stuff. Or does it not matter to you? Don't forget to post in the atttached poll.
I use Chevron exclusively, 90 octane. That's premium in Alaska... none of the refineries produce anything higher. At a difference of only $3 per fillup vs. regular unleaded, ($55 vs. $52 at our prices) there's no way I'd ever put the regular into my tank unless there truly was no other option.
As clearly stated in the owner's manual, you can run regular octane if you wish, but doing so causes a fairly large loss in power.
The price difference of 1 tank of premium vs 1 tank of regular is really only a couple bucks. I'd rather use premium, and if I needed to offset that cost difference somehow I would just buy 1 less beer, or 1 less Starbucks, etc. for the week. There's really no point in running regular.
the smart question should be how much ethanol is in the fuel you buy?
Around here all the fuel is about 10%. There is only on store I have seen selling straight gas and they are proud of it. Our cars come from the factory set up to run on straight fuel and the stoich is set to 14.68:1 afr but if your running e10 then it's going to be @ 14.1:1 afr so the pcm is having to correct for this. Putting regular e10 on top of this is just plain stupid.
I topped up with premium (98 octane or 94 in US values) last week and it cost me £68. Boy prices have gone up It was about £50 for a tank only a few months ago.
