The Active Handling and ABS lights are coming on and says, "Active Handling needs servicing and also ABS needs servicing"). However they go off when I stop and start back up later. Then after a couple days I start up and they come on again. Same thing and goes off same way. What needs to be done? It's on a 2001 and everything seems to be working fine, and no brake problem.
I bet that sometime soon, perhaps just after you do something that causes your active handling to kick in the lights will not go out. It is likely the all too common EBCM problem. Go to ABSFIXER.COM for his EBCM repair - better than new for $150; the EBCM is an easy re and re.
May sound strange but check the electrical connections in the accordion cover within the door hinges. Its common for one of the wires to fray and cause electrical gremlins. It did that to mine.
99.9% sure that it is the electrical connector on the the door hinge area, the wheel speed sensor wire, or the Grounding sensor in the hood compartment. Check those three and I'll bet you find your problem. Good luck getting GM to figure out an electrical gremlin, they will just throw money at it until you are dead in the street.
Do a search, you can check the codes yourself with the Driver Information Center, forget the button combo but a quick search will bring it up.
Very strange. Yesterday afternoon after coming back in I put the CTEK charger on it.
So after reading your messages, I look at the Manual, said if both are on too push the reset button three times for a reset. However, after disconnecting the charger and starting it up a couple times the signals aren't coming on. Seems strange things happen with the 01 concerning electrical problems. Comsumer Report says that the 01 and 02 have the most issues with the electrical system. Let you know if the problem continues. Thanks again.

A dying battery will also throw those lights, mine was the battery being bad. It literally fully died a week later.
Actually if it were me I would hope it's a C1214 which is a straightforward repair and not some other intermittent and hard to diagnose problem.
Good point I guess. My EBCM was replaced under warranty but at huge cost to GM. They posted it at $1300+. The absfixer fix is cheap and easy to do DIY. I have a C1287 and my SWPS is still waiting to go in. It was much harder to diagnose but the part was only $50. I'll probably do it myself even though its not a simple fix. I'm still not convinced its not brake related so I'll replace my rotors and pads first.

I had the C1287 code and it was my SWPS. Please check it ASAP. My bad SWPS sent "bad" data to the EBCM and it put on the Rt. Ft. brake. This was because the car thought I was in a slide. I was in the left lane of the freeway when it happened. The application of the right front brake pulled me into the center lane. Thankfully, it was not occupied.

My 2001 would get that message on ocassion. Seems there were
several service TSB and the dealer flashed the PCM (???) and they went away.
