Meh, I'm not going to read 3 pages of responses... LOL

I'm just going to say that I've had 2 C5s and the electrical issues with them are not a headache as you'd think.

Most of the issues are due to grounds having some corrosion on them. Clean the grounds, prevent issues. Pretty simple. The column lock issue is the only one that is a real gremlin but you won't have to worry about that with an automatic 2001. Those don't have column lock issues.

C5s are reliable cars and they're VERY safe. My first z06 was totaled by a lady t-boning me at high speed and I walked away. Take my word on it, if you take care of your C5, it will take care of you.

Now I am thinking twice about spending 17900 for the car.

$17,900 is not much for a car these days, much less a nice Corvette. If you have wanted one, just jump!

Don't let the forum scare you. People post here with there problems, so most of what you see is the problem side of ownership, but if you read most of the posts the fixes are all relatively simple. Plus the C5 is a very easy car to work on. All cars are becoming more and more complex with more and more options, which in the end become just another thing to go wrong down the line. What's great about the C5 is the LS1. This is a very well made engine and there are very few posts about major problems with them. Go for it and don't look back

I have a 2002 with 27,000 miles and no problems except a leak on the rear end at 2,000 which was fixed under warrenty. It's for sale @ $ 17,900 if you're interested. I'm located in Uniontown,Al. and can send pics. Black, auto and loaded. E-mail me @ Northendred@AOL.COM if interested. Garaged kept from day one!
