I had to wait 24 years from my first birthday to get my Corvette. Don't worry, it'll happen and the two years will fly by. Too bad you'r in Amarillo, if you were closer I'd offer you a ride around.
mmmmm...very interesting
I always thought it was a myth, parents paying for college.
I worked & paid my own way.
.
Me too! My dad asked me what I was going to do after High School, I told him I was going to go to college. He said, "great, how are YOU going to pay for it"? I joined the military and worked 2 part time jobs. Got my Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
I'll do the same for my kids. Sorry kids, no free ride here.
Yes actually this does, in fact sound like good advice. Living vicariously throught the Vettes belonging to other might just be what the doctor ordered.
I can easily see how this behavioural approach to your dilema could serve as an effective remedy in helping to assuage your fears during those times when the melancholy of not having a Vette of your own becomes overwhelming. The therapeutic effects of virtual Corvette ownership described above, as ephemeral as it may be, may afford you the strength and stamina you need in order to survive these "dry" years.
Rx for gvette98
Test drive at a Corvette dealership once a week to be taken without meals We don't want you to vomit going WOT after just having eaten a meal.
Contraindicaiton Beware of 2010 Corvette Grand Sport. A drug this strong could lead to addiction and overdose.
I was able to eliminate C4 and base c5 vettes after just a couple test drives. In a couple years I drove 3-4 vettes before I knew that a C5 Z06 was the right one for me. They were all from dealerships and not from private owners. Though I did "waste" their time more than half the time they were just happy to get out of the office during some very slow and boring times of the day.
Was that a serious answer? Loans, grants, working while going to school. Lots of people do it.
I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but I have friends that had their way through college paid for them. Their parents pay for everything and then some. When one of them just graduated, they got a brand new 335i convertible. Paid for, of course, by their parents. That car replaced their other nice car they were given by their parents too.
Yeah, that makes me a bit jealous since I've worked my butt off for everything I've got. However, considering that they'll never really know the value of a dollar, I see myself still far ahead of them.

But it must be nice to grow up rich, huh?
Shiit, I went to university with a girl who had a BMW given to her when she graduated high school..........and her father worked at one of the Big Three in Windsor. Ha ha.
I'd be ashamed of myself if my Dad had to sell something he enjoyed just to take care of my education, it would show a complete lack of responsibility on the young adult.
Imagine having to shoulder that shame........oh but I got an education, and my dad doesn't mind driving a beater.
Amen .....but what kind of education does the price of a C5 pay for these days??? Correspondence school????..
My kids were told -- State U education on Mom and Dad (4 years) and anything more (xtra years or better school) on them -- loans, scholarships, work, whatever. In this day and age, IF PARENTS CAN AFFORD IT, even by sacrificing some toys, and kids perform well at school, that's a fair "obligation" IMHO. Really don't like sending my kid out in this economy in a $30K or more debt "hole" just so I can have a third car...
At the same time, giving them only the minimum ensures they have some "skin" in the game because any screw up, or desire for a "name brand" degree, means they pay.
College has gotten ridiculously expensive. For whatever reason, these schools think it really does cost $50K for each student to attend school for 4 years. (in my case it was $45K for 3 years). And this doesn't include books or living expenses most of the time. Somehow these books are $100-$800!!! WHAT THE HELL? They're just paper.
The education system is totally taking advantage of people just like the insurance companies. When my friends are out of law school, it will have put them over $100K in debt. That's ridiculous.
There is no chance in hell that the cost of education is really that much. No way. The professors aren't making that much money, so where is all that money going?
I sure would love to own a school. Seems like big money these days.
Lot of example in here of why the rich stays rich and the poor stays poor....Education is also a way of weeding out the less fortunate and opening opportunities......Hating on this guy for helping his own blood is just ridiculous.

Here Here Brotha
My wife's nursing program cost $40,000 for 14 months. I just got my B.S. and so did she. We will have about $50k in student loans to repay after her V.A. benefits. Now if I go back to finish my MBA or JD and MY wife gets her CRNA or NP we'll be closer to $120k in loans.
The Way I figure it if she becomes a CRNA and makes $250k a year without my income, we'll still be doing ok with the loans.
I plan on making sure my kids benefit from my good decisions and don't have to fight and struggle the way I did. Just my view though, not everyone is like me, obviously.

Quoted for Truth.
The fact that some people are even coming down on this guy for helping his son afford to get an education just proves that some people here don't actually have one.
The school I went to is a private school and is extremely expensive. Upwards of $90,000. Now that is not the national average but still even $50-$60k for school is NOT cheap by any means.
With jobs being more difficult to find, especially in some areas, and the cost of education getting more expensive every year, some of the responses make me wonder how sober the people posting are.
