Do you have the 3.15 rear or he 2.73? If you have put in the 3.42 like myself then he wont stand a chance.
You also might want to make sure you mention it will be on a closed track!
Thanks,Matt
Just because its a bigger motor doesnt mean its faster. Like Madmatt said, power to weight ratio has alot to do with it. I love how people think just because its an LS2 its automatically. When will they learn!!

I know for certain that a convertible A4 3.15 with LS6, headers and a tune will continually and perpetually spank a tuned and headered (is that a word?) LS2 GTO!
I had my 06 GTO with 6 spd for a short time with my C5. The GTO is no slouch. It is quite heavier. The GTO did not handle near as well. They are both great for power and speed, but I think the C5 is a better car. I loved having that much HP in my garage sitting side by side.
The C5 should walk the GTO easily. GTO's are much more difficult to launch, aren't nearly as slippery, and the C5 probably has 500-600 lbs weight advantage. The GTO has more power yes, but not enough to overcome all that.
GTOs are heavy and don't hook up well without REALLY sticky tires. They're good for high speed roll runs, but from a dig they're super slow.
A bone stock LS1 C5 will run about the same if not faster in the 1/4 as a bone stock LS2 GTO.
Bone stock LS2 GTOs have an abuse system built into the computer. If they WOT it too many times (I think twice) it will stop letting them WOT the motor until the computer is reset. That can be tuned out, but if the car hasn't been tuned it's still in there.
What's sad is that the abuse system (AKA Torque management) made the LS2 GTOs run the exact same 1/4 time as the LS1 GTOs.
Take it to a track and show him how pretty Corvette tail lights look.

It seems a lot of people start threads asking what the collective group thinks about a certain match-up... It would be nice to see a thread about how they beat up on another "muscle car"
tell him you want a real race. Join a racing club and take both cars to a roadcourse. All things being equal with driver skills, that will truly show car superiority. Ofcousre 1st you need to learn how to drive on a roadcourse in case you havent been on one
