Bilstien HD's for me.... Not as harsh as the sports yet nice and firm. Plus no more wheel hop which makes for a nice clean burnout..

So....do I have them?

If you have the switch then you have the shocks. It should say F55 on the sticker. If your car is an anniversary edition, they came as standard. Not so on all 03 cars though. Is your car anniversary red with shale interior?
All that aside I would strongly recommend checking with another shop. It is a little strange to have all four leaking. Someone could be giving you a line of crap.
Good luck.

By the way, Bilsteins are the way to go if you can run standard shocks. Nobody knows shocks more than Bilstein does.

Well, I priced the replacement of magnetic shocks with the GM parts store, Gene Culley, and they were a sight less money than what I was priced at with our local GM dealer, who quoted me $1300 more, at $4100, not including labor.
By the way, what is the distinct advantage of magnetic shocks over the conventional ones? would my ride be more bumpy without them?
Oh, the mechanic who told me my shocks were leaking, also showed them to me, and my husband also said he saw oil on them. However, I dont see any difference in the suspension or ride, so far. So they may be in the early stages of leaking. I only have 44k miles, and it seems to me, something that expensive to replace would last a little longer, unless the previous owner, who lives here, really drove it over rough roads alot. I live in a rural area and alot of roads are not paved, but I surely do stay away from those.
You guys are a huge help. thank you.

Even a savings of $1300 is still over 5 times as expensive as the C6Z06 shocks available from Gene at about $250 for all 4 shocks.

The magnetic shocks because they are electronically operated can respond hundreds or thousands of times per second. For a car being driven in a competative/race mode these MIGHT be be better for a driver capable of taking advantage of that. For a street driven car they are a total waste of money in my opinion (Flame suit adjusted).
No offense but somehow I don't see a 70 year old being in need of the magnetic suspension at the costs you mention above....

So they may be in the early stages of leaking. They may be in the early stages of leaking the fluid out but that will progress more quickly now that the process has started. Eventually the shocks will become useless. Could be a few weeks, few months or even a few years. I'd look for a technician that has access to the TECH II tool and get the system (F55) turned off and then install either the GM C6Z06 or even the GM C6 shocks. I doubt you will notice any difference in the ride and you will certainly notice the difference in your check book...
