New Shocks?
I cant believe its been six months since I've visited the forum.:o
Anyway, upon inspection of a leaking tire, I was told that my shocks are leaking, all four, but more so, the front ones.
She has 44K miles, but our roads are sometimes a little rough. My ride hasn't changed much, still pretty smooth, but then I've noticed that I can feel a little road vibration in the steering wheel, and, maybe, more noticeable bumpiness on pavement.
Are they truly wearing? And if they need replacement, what should they be replaced with? Does the MRC come into play with getting new shocks? I was quoted nearly $600 for all four, but I'm assuming that they would be standard shocks, and it isn't a Chevy dealership. Do the C5's come with standard shocks or should I go to a Chevy dealership?
I could really use some input about this.

Thanks,
C6Z06 shocks are next on my list even though my stock shocks only have 24K miles on them...$240 is a great price
You need to either replace them with same $2500+ or find someone who has experience in removing the F55 code from the computer. It's only about a 20 minute job, but requires a tech II and know how

You were quoted all 4 shocks for $600? Jump on it.

Then she would be driving off with SERVICE RIDE CONTROL MAX SPEED 80 MPH SHOCKS INOPERABLE DING DING DING DING DING!
I would also like to point out that shock simulators do not work with the magnetic F55 system. Only with the older systems.

Now I am confused. I dont know whether I have the magnetic shocks or not. I thought I had read somewhere that all 03's have them. Maybe I am thinking, instead of ride adjustments. If I had magnetics, how would I be able to tell?

If you can find some one with a TECH II you can bypass the F55 option in the car and then run C6Z06 shocks which you can buy from Gene at $240 FOR ALL 4 shocks.
Here is the info about bypassing the F55 option with a Tech II:
1. Hook up your Tech 2 (Driver's footwell), turn the car ON, make sure the module in the left rear storage compartment (pull back the velcro lining on the front of the compartment) is plugged in. DO NOT UNPLUG THIS MODULE
2. Now use the Tech 2 to delete the F45 option ( F55 option does not appear on the Tech 2 menu screen - SO - DELETE THE F45 OPTION
(use the screen captures - steps 2-14)
3. Save the new configuration
4. DO NOT TURN THE CAR OFF DO NOT REMOVE THE TECH 2 Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the GRAY connector - IT IS THE WIDEST ONE - leave the other 1 (F/45) or 2 (F/55) plugged in.
5. Turn off the car but LEAVE THE TECH 2 PLUGGED IN
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of the car - Never plug them back in again, if you do the F/45 turns on automatically.
7. Now the moment of TRUTH - Turn the car on and verify that the dreaded - MAX SPEED 80 MPH - is gone. This message was only present if you had already disconnected the shock sensors. Some people have had to disconnect their battery to allow the computer to reset to remove this message, but I would confirm with the Tech II that the F/45 was actually deleted first and if not reconnect everything and start again with step 1.
8. Unplug the Tech 2 - Get in the car and take it for a ride. Smile as you pass the DREADED 80 MPH.
With these instructions in their hands even the most inexperienced tech can do this. It took mine 5 minutes and they charged me $25. I would have spent much more time and effort getting and installing resistors.
If you haven't already changed your shocks drive home carefully as the shocks become very soft, not dangerous but as GM advises keep it under 80MPH.
You may get some posters that will tell you can use "simulators or resistors to fool the system. Thise work on the earlier F45 suspension for the 2002 and earlier cars. It does not work for the F55 suspension.

The Magnetic Selective Ride shocks are damn expensive. If you have those, get them tuned out and then go with either the C6 Z06 shocks or a set of Bilstein Sports.
Hopefully you can find a reference for a local mechanic to help you out (or a forum member). If not, come on down to Vancouver as we have Tom Wong here who is a magician with Corvettes. Could even put you up here for a few nights while you visit (No hustle here, I'm married)
Thanks for the info on whether I have magnetics or not. Yes, I have the Anniversary 03, and I have a selector on the console with the choice of "Tour" or "Sport". However, in the glove compartment, on the little sticker for parts ID #'s, I didnt see any F55.
So....do I have them?
