Default GM plug wires

My tuner recomended that I pull the MSD wires on my coupe and install the GM performance wires and NGK plugs.

Is purchasing these wires via Gene Culley something that I should do or just go to my local dealer??

I like to support forum sponsors when practical

thanks

I would think going to the dealer would be cheaper

Did you mean MSD Coils with GM Wires? I've had good results with Bob Wendroff @ Fichtner Chevrolet. Great service and prices.

It has MSD wires on it now.

thanks

Is it better to call Gene? I sent an e-mail.

If I call, do ask for Gene or do I simply order from whomever answers the phone

I saved money going through Gene and Pat at Gmpartshouse, however my last purchase was lost by FedEx their shipper in the southeast. My last three experiences with FedEx has been the same. When it absolutely, positively has to be screwed up overnite..."trust FedEx"

The GMPP Red wires have been on back order for about 3 weeks. I have 25 sets on order whenever GM decides to release them to us.

Absolutely support Gene Culley and forum vendors!

Also order a set of AC Delco Iridium plugs to go with those GMPP Performance wires....

Yup...I am experiencing the same thing...back ordered to kingdom come!!

This really sucks...because the AcDelco wires are twice as much as the GM performance wires!!

You can talk to whoever answers the phone - they are all very helpful at gmpartshouse. I'd go with them - I'd bet you can get the wires cheaper there even with the shipping added on.

I'm not sure I would pull working MSD wires to install the GM wires. I have the MSD's on my car. (came with the car) Not sure if they would be my choice of wire, but I don't think I would pull them for something else. Is there an issue with them?

Gene Culley pm'd me and said the wires are and have been on back order with no eta and he could not help me.

My tuner said he has had lots of issues with the MSD wires and in his opinion the GM wires are superior....in his words "lots of folks buy the MSD wires thinking that more expensive has got to be better, and in the case of plug wires that has not been his expieraince".

.....his words-not mine.....I do trust him though.

A little bird tells me this little thread is about to take off in a new direction

I had serious issues with a set of MSD wires/LT1 application two years ago - real nightmare to figure out as they were new. MSD had major issues with their LT1 Billet Optispark distributer as well. I'd be reluctant to purchase their products again.
