I have been noticing the past few years that when l am parked near or next to a C6 that my C5 gets more looks. Not to mention that all of the kids know that a C5 is a Corvette but question the C6 at first!
When l told my wife that l wanted to trade my coupe 02 for a C6 she balked because she just doesn't like the way it looks.
Even after explaining to her that the C6 is a better built vette both inside and outside (not looks) she still doesn't care. And to mention the hp difference would be wasting my time.
But she did say when the vette that was featured in the last Transformer's movie comes out l can step out and buy one. But to think about it according to GM that model will not be out until 2014 at best.
But again this is the only reason that l'm holding onto my C5 besides being in perfect condition with low miles.
I have an '01 with somewhat low miles 34,500, in great shape, but I have had it for 4 years now and I am in the mood for a change. If I change, it will be for a C6 '08 or newer because of the LS3 engine. I happen to like the looks of the C6. Not saying it is better looking then the C5, just that I like how it looks.
As for the Transformer/C7 they better improve on it from the proto type (movie version) or they won't sell many IMO.

The LS3 is a great option and as l said l'm only talking about the styling period. If you look in the C7 section they have pic's and it's a little different and it will most likely be a mid engine 6 cyl. with the same numbers as the V8.
Every generation people say the next one will be a mid engine. Remember the Aerovette? That was fly.
But anyway, the trend seems to be going toward a SMALLER corvette.
The c5 is very comfortable to me.
The c6 is JUST small enough inside that I can never own one.
I had aspirations of going from my c5 to a c7, but if it's as small or smaller than the c6... I guess I'll be driving my C5 until the lug nuts fall off.
Each vette generation is styled differently so it's up to the person what he wants. For example, C5 is like Superman. Big, muscular, proud, oozing with machismo. C6 is like Flash. Small, light, quick. It depends which superhero you prefer.
In comparing to the C6, I simply think the C5 has better lines, especially the convertible. The C6Z however is growing on me.
When I purchased my 2004 C5 vert, the 2005 C6s were already on the lot so I was able to perform a nice side-by-side comparison. Although I agree the C6 has improved on the Corvette legacy, as it should in terms of performance, etc. the design was not enough for me to close a killer deal with 0% financing on my C5!
I have corrected the "little things" about the C5 design that IMO needed improvment; HID?LED exterior lights, DD mod/stereo (in progress), suspension (Z06 bars/shocks) and brakes/wheels. New leather interior is next.
My plan is to now keep my C5 vert and save up for a C6 or C7 Z06 to add to the stable as the C5 lines are too nice to give up!

I really like the looks of the C5, but I also like the C6 - its looks have grown on me over the years. However, if I were to go with a C6, I think it would have to be either a Z06 or the Grand Sport model.

I've been considering a C6 Z06 myself. Really not ready to get rid of the C5 though. Probably get the C6 Z anyway and just hang onto the 04.

As long as there have been multiple generations of Corvettes, owners of generations other than the current have always nit-picked the newer car.
"The butt is too big, the butt is chopped off, the front looks funny, I don't like the headlights", etc.....I think you get my point.
I love both of my C5's - but I love the C6 for one big reason. It represents the continuation of the Corvette. These cars must evolve and constantly improve in order to survive. New competitors are cropping up in the most unlikely of places.....just look at the new 2011 Mustang 5.0. 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, almost 1g on the skidpad - all for about $15K less than a base C6. Like Ford or hate Ford - is the Corvette still the "best bang for the buck?"
Corvette must improve to remain viable and desirable.
In the future I think you'll see smaller Corvettes with smaller displacement power plants, possibly utilizing forced induction to retain the horsepower and torque ratings of today's engines.
And I guarantee when the next generation is unveiled and released for sale - C6 owners will be starting threads just like this one....

The base C6 body is just blah. C5 is a sexy, curvy beast.
I went form a C4 to a C6 (2005 Z51). The C6 was a great car, in fact the best IMHO with power and engineering, but I never grew to 'love the styling. I went back to a C5 convertible and am happy. That said if I wanted a coupe for a daily driver, the C6 would be the way to go.
Just my opinion, which doesnt always count for much!
As far as your plans for the C7. Should they come out with a split window I expect it will be a one year style feature like in 63. In that event it will be a 50th Anniv of the 63 SWC which means it will need to be a 2013 model. Pure speculation on my part but it makes sense, if and only if, it's a split.

I have both, plus a C3. I like all of them. They all have their pros and cons. I had the C6 before the C5. I bought my 2000 FRC last summer just to have something to hop up and keep. I'm on my third C6, currently an 08, and I don't keep them long enough to want to sink a bunch of money in the engine so that's why I bought the C5. I love driving the C5, it's a great car. The C6 is just that much better as they have made it much quieter and the LS3/LS7 engines are awesome!! Throw in navagation, heated seats, ability to play mp3 cd's, etc and you have a world class traveling machine.
