I need some help guys. I recently had the "pull key and wait 10 seconds" message which turned into "service column lock'. I just finished installing the clb from Corvettes of Houston and I still have the message and the car shuts off. Before installing the clb the column was not locked but the car wouldnt run. Should I disconnect the battery to clear codes? I'm at a loss. Thanks for any thoughts.
I disconnected the battery and waited 10 minutes, no change. I then pulled all of the bcm fuses and waited 10 minutes, also no change. Am I going to have to have this thing towed?
I've read your can jerk the steering wheel back and forth and it will disengage if it is stuck. but i dont know if it will work in your situation. i guess anything is worth a try?
I do not have the splice. Maybe I'll try the relay. I am charging the battery now to see if that helps at all. The car does sit alot. I did have it on the trickle charger as late as Monday so i'm not confident that it will help. Thank you so much for your advice I really appreciate your time.
Sorry you're having problems. The other members who have posted have given you good advice. Your last post may have something to do with the situation if the battery was close to dead. These cars are pretty ticklish when it comes to battery issues. I would go back over the install just to make sure you're all set. Easy mistakes can cause a whirl of problems. Contacting Corvettes of Houston is a good idea.
Finally, back to the battery for a minute, if you do a search on batteries you'll find quite a bit on this topic. I think I'm correct based on all the information that using a trickle charger is not the best way to maintain the battery. Using a Battery Tender or a CTEK is much preferred. Good luck.
The carpet isnt wet as the car never gets wet (exept occasional washing) and I never run the a/c. Its a vert and when its driven the top is down. Thanks for the advice on the charging system. That and the relay are my last hope before towing. Luckily I know a good tow company.
I have an update on my clb issue. I put the battery charger on for about 3 hrs and pulled the bcm fuses again. When I started up the warning remained and when I reset the dic the warning went out!!! I think a new battery may be in order. Thanks to everyone who helped out. You guys rock!!:
Tnanks again 8vette7. One more question, now everytime I start the car the service column lock lights up but when I hit the reset on the dic it goes out. Im still thinking battery?? You?
I didnt get to drive it yet, there were too many cars in the driveway. I will make sure the battery is ok and then try to drive it and see what happens. I will keep you posted. Thanks once again.
After you reset this message is the car driveable or does the fuel shutoff hit when you reach 2mph and the car stalls?
Get the battery set first and then see if you still get the column lock message. I can help you with that if it continues once the battery is either at full charge or you replace it if needed.
i have the same problem now.. battery was bad got it replaced.. column lock sign still comes up.. and when i drive above two miles an hour it shuts off.. any help would be thankful..
