Corvette vs Mustang
It is very wrong for a Mustang to make more HP stock than a Corvette. Mustangs were always in the class of the Camaro or Firebird, never in the class of Corvette or Ferrari.
It is going to be very sad when a base V6 mustang or GT is faster than a base Corvette. Being forced to mod a Corvette just to keep up with a base Mustang is a sin.
GM should recall all C5's and make factory adjustments to keep C5 HP higher than a Mustang GT. Corvette should have a minimum of 10 years supiriority over any new Mustang V6 or GT.
A 2011 gt is what 412 hp and 3900 lbs
Vette shaped like a missile
GT shaped like a brick w/ a couple of pieces missing

I dont think the Vette needs to be modded

Oh and ill take a base LS3 w/342 gears and 6spd with stock tires and walk all over that stock tire Shelby

Wheels can accent "ANY" vehicle, put simply base wheels are not always the best choice to "evryone", like my case I think the factory thinspokes can be replaced with a "MUCH" nicer wheel therfore making the Vette look nicer or accenting and complimenting the whole vehicle

Quite simple
Thanks,Matt

Here are the 2010 specs for the Mustang:
Vehicle Highlights
The 2010 Ford Mustang is revamped with new styling, an upgraded interior, and more V8 power. These sporty/performance coupes and convertibles are available with V6 and V8 engines.
Base versions have a 210-horsepower 4.0-liter V6.
GTs have a 315-horsepower 4.6-liter V8, up 15 from '09.
Both V6 and GT models are available in base or Premium trims. All are available with manual or automatic transmission.
Also returning is the high-performance Shelby GT500. It has a 540-horsepower supercharged 5.4-liter V8 and mandatory 6-speed manual transmission. The GT500 is offered as a coupe or convertible.
Available safety features include ABS, traction control, new-for-2010 antiskid system, and front-side airbags. Newly standard is a capless fuel filler. Other new-for-2010 available features include ambient interior lighting and a rearview camera.
Ford's Sync, which offers voice control for cell phones and MP3 players, is also available. The available navigation system now includes real-time traffic updates. A fixed glass roof panel is a stand-alone option. Newly optional for manual-transmission GT Premium coupes is a "Trackpack", which includes a limited-slip differential, uprated brakes, sport suspension, 19-inch wheels, and a special antiskid system.

What's New for 2011
Following up on interior and exterior revisions last year, the 2011 Ford Mustang receives all-new engines this year, including a 305-horsepower V6 and a 412-hp V8. They're backed up to new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Other changes include a switch to electric power steering (from hydraulic), larger brakes, revised suspension tuning, added noise insulation, additional body bracing for the GT convertible, blind-spot mirrors and Ford's MyKey system.
2011 Ford Mustang Vehicle Overview
Introduction
Frankly, this isn't the Ford we used to know. With the venerable Mustang coming off a host of big changes just last year, including updated styling, a higher-quality interior and new features, we would have thought nothing would change for the 2011 Mustang. Old Ford would have declared this good enough and kicked back on the porch with a beer in hand. But today's Ford, the one that's been building impressive cars like the Flex and Fusion, has reloaded yet again, and for 2011 it's targeted the 2010 'Stang's primary weakness: powertrains.
We'll start with the V6. No longer is it a woefully underachieving lump that hadn't changed much since the 1990s. The 2011 Ford Mustang's new 3.7-liter V6 now has all-aluminum construction, dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing. It's enough to crank out 305 hp, or just 10 hp less than last year's V8. Torque is up by 40 pound-feet as well, to give you 280 lb-ft; that screeching sound you hear is a Mustang V6 actually doing a respectable burnout.
Power is still sent to the rear wheels, of course, but this time it's channeled through either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. The extra gears help the Mustang V6 earn a laudable 31 mpg highway EPA fuel economy estimate. This year's V8 has been given a jolt of adrenaline as well. Bumped up in displacement to 5.0 liters, it has four valves per cylinder and dual overhead cams. Peak output is a rip-roaring 412 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both transmissions for the V8-powered Mustang GT (manual and automatic) are similarly upgraded to six-speed units.

My Car....

Moms 2010 GT....nice car but again more luxury than anything IMO
By the way he keeps talking all this **** about how his car is soo bad ***. Well guess what, I get 30 mpg on the highway and I payed literally less than half for what he payed. When you buy a $38k car and still live at home, you are just wrong.
Apples to Oranges here guys.

I appreciate the OP who can own 2 fun cars for his personal use. I like the new Mustangs a lot, but they are so different than Vettes that there is no comparison! Nor should there be. Different cars, different price ranges, different purposes. I cannot think of a $15K car that has anywhere near the total performance envelope of a '99 C5, nor a $25K car that will stay with an '04 C5 Z. And if speed is all that really matters, my kid's $7K crotch rocket will likely destroy 99.99% of the Vettes on this forum -- probably would take the new ZR-1 in the 1/4 mile. So what -- different vehicles, different purposes.
I do not get the "It is very wrong for the Mustang to make more HP than a Vette" comment at all. It's been going on forever!!! The 1986 Mustang GT delivered 205 HP and a 10-year older non-L82 Vette was only 180! In 1969 you could get a 335 HP Mach 1 Mustang but in 1959 the top-dog Vette was the 290 HP fuelie. BFD -- it's called progress.
Don't we all seem silly trying to "down" the Mustang? Some of the most childish postings I've seen.
Put it this way, by everything I've read and seen, the latest Mustang is a much better ponycar than the latest Camaro. Gotta give the blue oval guys credit for that, and quit acting defensive that our 10 year old Vettes have less stock HP than a new Mustang GT.
Hey OP --
Mustang convertible for the missus, they keep us sane....ish
I bet your two really turn heads over there. The boss originally wanted a
yellow Mustang but I talked her out of it as too many boy racers here
looking for trouble.
I like the wheels on yours, a Ford upgrade? You've got me thinking now.
What mods were made to the Mustang for UK as in lights etc? Thinking of
taking ours to Spain and regs are very similar.

A couple of weeks ago my son (who just graduated from college in May and turned 22 last week) and I were out in the Corvette. Just father and son, cruzin with the top down and livin large. It was one of those rare occasions where we ran across several Vettes in a short period of time. I exchanged waves with each driver. My son thought that was so cool. He asked, "Do Corvette drivers do that all the time?" I truthfully answered, "More often than not."
I don't care if you strap a 1,000 hp jet engine to a Mustang. At the end of the day it's just a Mustang, and a Mustang is just a car. A nice car, but just a car. It will never have the mystique of a Corvette.
Another point to ponder: You can go to any major airport and Avis, Budget, or Hertz will rent you a shinny new Mustang. They ain't gonna rent you a Corvette!
