Hi, I took my vette out today for the first time since buying myself a 2006 Mustang GT to use as my daily driver. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mustang, but had forgot just how good the Vette is. So now I have a grin on my face whenever I am driving.
Your Vette looks so much better (mine is also Torch Red) but don't get me wrong I would love to have a 2011 GT Vert in addition to my Vette and hope to buy the wife one so I can enjoy both.
I have a 2000 Mustang GT that I consider my "grocery getter," fun car, real loud mufflers, etc., but she just don't have the GO that the vette does...
Truthfully, they can't even be compared in the same category--it's a night/day difference. And my brother-in-law was comparing his bro's V-6 Mustang to my Vette!
I drive a 07 350Z as the DD fun car but not the Corvette. I will say that for anyone with a stock C5 that 2011 Mustang GT will eat your lunch on most days Ford did a nice job on that one performace wise
The problem is the V6 mustang now makes more than 300+ HP and the GT makes more than 400+ HP. We're not even talking about the Shelby which makes more than 500+ HP.
It is very wrong for a Mustang to make more HP stock than a Corvette. Mustangs were always in the class of the Camaro or Firebird, never in the class of Corvette or Ferrari.
It is going to be very sad when a base V6 mustang or GT is faster than a base Corvette. Being forced to mod a Corvette just to keep up with a base Mustang is a sin.
GM should recall all C5's and make factory adjustments to keep C5 HP higher than a Mustang GT. Corvette should have a minimum of 10 years supiriority over any new Mustang V6 or GT.
When your driving down the road and you see a mustang coming right at you,you think,,nice car coming. When you see a vette coming your way, Holly cow now that looks sweet. The C5 looks 1000000000 times better going down the road then any mustang. And ill bet 95% people that have a mustang would admit that the vette looks better on the road. And if they don't say it, there thinking it.LOL
Mustangs still are in the same class as Camaros and Firebirds.
And if HP is your only measurement for one car over another then you don't really understand what is unique about the Corvette.

Mustang drivers don't wave at each other like Vette drivers do (trust me on this one).
A couple of weeks ago my son (who just graduated from college in May and turned 22 last week) and I were out in the Corvette. Just father and son, cruzin with the top down and livin large. It was one of those rare occasions where we ran across several Vettes in a short period of time. I exchanged waves with each driver. My son thought that was so cool. He asked, "Do Corvette drivers do that all the time?" I truthfully answered, "More often than not."
I don't care if you strap a 1,000 hp jet engine to a Mustang. At the end of the day it's just a Mustang, and a Mustang is just a car. A nice car, but just a car. It will never have the mystique of a Corvette.
Another point to ponder: You can go to any major airport and Avis, Budget, or Hertz will rent you a shinny new Mustang. They ain't gonna rent you a Corvette!
