Not being the first owner, I am not sure if the wheels were an upgrade or not. But they do look 'the business'. As for the lights, the only really obvious change was the addition of a fog light and a reversing light in the rear bumper. The original reversing lights were then altered to become the amber indicators. Interestingly, this Mustang was one of 3 imported by a UK Ford dealer, who then did the light alterations themselves. Though I would rather not have to have these lights mounted in the rear bumper, they have made a really good job of doing them. Nowadays you can actually get replacement light clusters with the cental section in clear glass which negates the need to add extra lights.

WOW,,you HAVE to be a real car nut!! I didn't notice in your original post that you were from the U.K.!! That car had to cost you BIG bucks,,and I know your gas prices are!!!I think you have great looking rides there!!!I wouldn't mind having something like that as an alternative ride!!
Dude your refering to a 2011 mustang Gt not base and the 2011 vette has more hp base then the mustang. And I own a stang your compairing a car that is not yet on the street to a 15 year old car WTF. My C5 looks faster sitting still than the 2011 stang at full throttle.......

It is very wrong for a Mustang to make more HP stock than a Corvette. Mustangs were always in the class of the Camaro or Firebird, never in the class of Corvette or Ferrari.
It is going to be very sad when a base V6 mustang or GT is faster than a base Corvette. Being forced to mod a Corvette just to keep up with a base Mustang is a sin.
GM should recall all C5's and make factory adjustments to keep C5 HP higher than a Mustang GT. Corvette should have a minimum of 10 years supiriority over any new Mustang V6 or GT.
Mustang drivers don't wave at each other like Vette drivers do (trust me on this one).
A couple of weeks ago my son (who just graduated from college in May and turned 22 last week) and I were out in the Corvette. Just father and son, cruzin with the top down and livin large. It was one of those rare occasions where we ran across several Vettes in a short period of time. I exchanged waves with each driver. My son thought that was so cool. He asked, "Do Corvette drivers do that all the time?" I truthfully answered, "More often than not."
I don't care if you strap a 1,000 hp jet engine to a Mustang. At the end of the day it's just a Mustang, and a Mustang is just a car. A nice car, but just a car. It will never have the mystique of a Corvette.
Another point to ponder: You can go to any major airport and Avis, Budget, or Hertz will rent you a shinny new Mustang. They ain't gonna rent you a Corvette!
They do have a Hertz Corvette, its the ZHZ model, yellow with black stripe down the hood. They are starting to sell them to the public now. Similar to the Hertz Mustang.
I read through that one yesterday,,and the mod's finally locked it!! Funny,,the kid that started it NEVER did answer weather he even OWNED a Corvette!! Obviously a kid, probably a high school kid,,with statements like Your car defines who you are,,and you are going to be looked down on because the new mustangs make more power than a C5!! I do enjoy that some car people do appreciate my car,,but I haven't lost one second of sleep worrying what others think,,I like it,,and could care less what OTHERS think!! Maybe because I'm older and more mature. I like the C5 for what it is period!! I still like the OP's Mustang,,'cause I'm a car guy,,and appreciate ANY cool cars,,as most folks would!!
The best part was towards the end where another member linked a thread that the kid posted about wanting to buy a C5 for $14,000 and that he actually like the C5. What a fun time bringing that kid down to earth.
You have to remember that most of those on this forum are Corvette guys, not car guys.
Kinda sad in a way. I love my vette, it's an incredible bargin for the performance, but I very much appreciate other cars out there as well, even imports . My car addiction might just run deeper than others.
To the OP, great combo, nothing like having a vette and a fun DD.
I drive a 07 350Z as the DD fun car but not the Corvette. I will say that for anyone with a stock C5 that 2011 Mustang GT will eat your lunch on most days Ford did a nice job on that one performace wise
Nice cars both of them
Stock GT is 13.2 in 1/4 and stock C5 is 13.5.
Driver's race, plus mods are more likely on a $17,000 C5 than on a $39,000 mustang. Real World I don't see too many C5s being "eaten" by new mustangs.
I like the front, hate the back, and interior is so so. I like the new Maros, but the interior is HORRIBLE. I'm between a Viper, C6Z Ron Fellows, CTS-V, and a Maserati Quattroporte for my next car.
Too many choices in the $50k range although the Ron Fellows is more like $60k. I even briefly considered a 360 Modena for $75k until thoughts of maintanence fees crept in.

I was at a car show this past Saturday and there was a kid there with an SRT4 Neon that was making 410 fwhp and another with an AWD Mitsubishi Evo that was making 485 at the wheels. I ran into the young man with the Neon last fall at a motorcycle show and he told me about his car. He remembered my car and asked if I'd like to see his now that it was finished. The car was absolutely beautiful. He was obviously very neat and meticulous and it showed. I couldn't help but notice the pride in his voice when he talked about the car. I told him he'd done a beautiful job of building it.
The Evo was unbelievable. The owner had gutted the interior, except for the driver's seat, and had quite a bit of carbon fiber on the exterior. I believe he said the car weighed about 2,900 lbs. with everything out of it. Once again, I could tell how proud he was of his car and the fact that he'd done all the work on it. Anyone who can get that kind of horsepower out of a little 4-cylinder motor has my admiration and respect. They may not be Corvettes or some other fancy performance car, but I assure you both of these young men are every bit of the gearhead that I am.

Thanks . That's an interesting statement, and proves, without differences in automobile manufacturers, we'd be racing ourselves all the time.
