That is not what a 2002 stock valve spring looks like. The LS6 valve spring in a 2002 was yellow.

The 2004 LS6 spring was a brown-copperish kind of color.
I'm not sure why yours is black like that. Either it's covered with oil, or it's from an LS1.
I have no clue guys.. They are all a dark metal color with some kind of faded paint markings on them. I am only the 3rd owner of this car, 09/01 build date.
My vote is this was a H/C car that was put back to stock, and the heads were replaced with much cheaper LS1 castings and thrown back together for sale. I WOULD NOT run the car like that. You'll just run into the exact same problem again and again and again.
You'll be fine with those then. They were very good to me when I had the stock heads on. They saw 7k rpm (aftermarket cam motor) and they never had an issue. Good to hear that. I am guessing you will be good to go for another 100k miles.
