Default visor home link installs

anyone have any experience with the vendor that says for a 150 bucks you mail them your visor and they install it for you. Any complaints or did you like the work?? Thinking about sending mine out would be real nice to be rid of the clunky thing garage door clicker I currently have. The vendor i vettemods.com they also sell the visor clip mount for radar detectors. Also a nice mod. The forum was right having a vette is awesome, even more so once the mod fever bug kicks in. Only a few more to do, then I will be happy or should I say happier. already happy

I bought a Homelink for 20 bucks off eBay, Visor from forum member and 10 to have the visor stiched back up. Do it your self and save 100 bucks. Very easy, I have 50 total in mine.

More info, I would be thinking that cost more than buying a visor already done.

Same here, but used my own visor and $20 to get it sewed back up.

Here's a DIY thread from last year where a bunch of us did this mod.

Add me to the DIYers. Paid $10 to get my wife a special foot for her sewing machine and then sweet-talked her into stitching for me.

I'm planning on modding my visors to custom leather to match the rest of my interior being planned. Anyone have experience in performing this mod with leather instead of the OEM cloth? The vendor I am considering buying the leather kit does not provide the Homelink mod as the visors are already sealed.

This is also a nice option. Couple of questions....(1) is the radar detector power line connected to the mirror and (2) does this homelink mirror also have the little LED light that the stock OEM mirror has that provides a soft glow over the center console? I like that and would hate to lose it.

To answer your original question, I had vetteMods install the homelink in my visor. I live close enough to him that I took my car over to him and he removed my visor for me. Once he had the homelink installed he called me and I met him and he re-installed the visor for me. Remove - Install of the visor is not difficult but him willing to do it for free illustrates his good service. My homelink works great and the visor looks original. I highly recommend the vendor and the mod.

1) No my radar detector is not powered in the mirror. It's powered down in the passengers foot well, very easy install.
2) No, there is no little LED light like the OEM, no big deal for me. This was a big upgrade from the OEM mirror let me tell you!

I did the same. Easy install, had a local car interior shop sew it back up for $20

The mirror looks great. In addition to the Homelink option, what other benefits/upgrades does the mirror provide? Also, how hard (easy) is the install of the wiring to the passenger footwell. Do the wires show over to the passenger A-pillar?

I added a Homelink remote and found it was one of the easiest mods I did so far. Found some great help on this forum, I just did a homelink search. The hardest thing to do was to take that first cut on the visor. After that, it took about 20 minutes to install. The homelink cost me $30 on ebay and did the sewing part myself. Here is what you see inside the visor

Picked up a unit today from the junk yard for $5 bucks. Gonna do the install tomorrow.

How do I know if it a rolling code or not?

The mfg of the mirror is Gentex.

Homelink (with three functions) a side, the other features in the mirror are the Temp Gauge with direction. It also has three map lights which lite up pretty good. The Homelink install uses the power from the old mirror. That was a little harder install because it comes with a wire harness that is comberson but workable!

The wiring for the radar detector to the foot well does not show. It is hidden in the headliner down behind the "A" pillar and down into the foot well all hidden.

I don't like the bulky remotes either and with a vert. I don't like putting it in my pocket. I have a Chamberlain garage door opener an bought the 3 button keychain remote. Problem solved!
