Default Could not do it

The dealer where I trade called and said they had a 09 ZO6 with 3,600 miles in Black.

Talked to the wife and she said okay. Drove our 02 black with torch red interior and the options that are called 2LT on the C6's and automatic trans and it just turned 16K.

Had the title and check book with. I looked at the Z and it was everything that they said about it. Absolutely pristine. But, When they asked if I wanted to drive it, I said no.

I just couldn't get rid of the C5 I've had it longer than any car that I have ever had. I have an 05 and 08 along with a 06 Viper. And in my opinion it is the best look Vette. Much better lines. The C6's look stubby.

I couldn't get the Z without a trade in so it was not meant to be.

I'm going to gamble that it won't sell fast as the dealer is usually high on his asking prices for Vettes. If it's still there in December when a CD comes due I'll head back.

Mid winter is the best time if you can bargain hard,,and the dealer is ready to deal!! Got mine in mid January a couple years ago. He was well under book to start,,and got him down another $1,300 . Closed the deal at about $4,700 under book!! Cold and snow CAN be your friend!!

My C5 would have been gone. I love my 01 but if my wife would give me the go ahead for a C6Z it would be gone very fast.

I drool over a C6Z, but after having my white C5 and now have the torch red and black interior, DVD/Nav Kenwood double din on the way, Vararam installed, B&B exhaust......I have a great Vette and it's paid for.

I can just sit back and admire the C6Z's and love my car even MORE!

I know what you mean. I love my C5 and I really love not having a car payment. Mind you, if I had 3 Vettes and a Viper I might pass on a good deal too.

I had an o3Z and went to a 08 C6Z. A year later and 14,000 mls I went back to a C5Z. I could have saved alot of money if I was as smart as you!!! LOL Love the c5Z and FRC.

MY last Corvette, I owned for 20 years.. When I sold it, I was planning to buy a NEW C6. Just as that was to happen, the economy dumped, and several investments, along with some real estate holdings of mine took a big hit. Now, my NEW C6 was just a dream. Then, I found my 98 C5 with only 17k miles on it and totally pristine! The guy wanted $22,500 for it and wouldn't budge. Finally, 3 weeks later, he came down to $20k and I grabbed it. Yes, Flame on for paying TOP Dollar for a 98, but this car is awesome! Its about as close to new as new could get. Ive only put 600 miles on it since I bought it, but, it is paid in FULL! No payments! I think the last time I had a car payment was sometime in the 80's... Yes, I have a few issues with it, but with the help of several here on the FORUM, its all good! Actually, I just received my CLB from Corvettes of Houston today and as soon as I get the time, I plan to install it. (sure is a tiny thing). Anyways, I love my C5 and plan to own it for many years to come! It still has yet to ever have a single rain drop on it! The drive home from California to Oregon was a dream! Set the cruise at 70 and got approx 27 mpg! Im impressed! By the way, the car is BONE STOCK!

You do what you gotta do brother, but I will tell you this. I have had many fast cars over the years......Saleens,Cobras,Vipers,and a Ford GT. Still have the GT. But no other car has impressed me more right out of the box than the C6 Z06. It's the meanest, nastiest, take no prisoners or happy as a kitten cruising down the boulevard car I've ever had. It all depends on your mood.

It's probably a good thing you didn't drive it. I look forward to the future & your impressions when, not if,you get one.

I completely understand. I've had a few issues with my 150k '99 DD coupe. I invested about $3k last month and the wife told me to just go buy a new one. I'm happy with the C5 and just can't see the benefit of getting rid of an old friend.

So why don't you trade one (or both) of your C6s in on the Z?

I have been offered several opportunities to drive a C6 Z06 and have always refused. I love my '98. It's modded just the way I wanted it and even though it's not the fastest, baddest or even prettiest car on the road, it's perfect for me.

Having said that I have no doubt if I ever drive a C6 Z06 I'll be buying one within a year!

Why would you trade a super model, for a regular model?

The C5 is a work of art.

I've had different generations of the Corvette, and the C5 looks the best. The C6 is super, but the styling department fell down the stairs on the way to the boardroom.

I want a C6Z but really don't want to part with my modded 03 Z plus 20G's. Then tack on another 4-6G's for mods on the C6Z. Wish I had both.
