So what you're saying is Nissan put a filter in their $20,000 truck so people would have the illusion of clean air? And yet Corvette still didn't get one.

No what I am saying is you can buy a 20,000 dollar Nissan Truck and haul horse manure with it, and it will smell like roses, or you can have a C5 and Haul some serious ***, and could care less what the *** smells like.

I use this one too, in fact I am on my second one, first one fell apart after last washing.

I think all us convertible owners could all get together and apply for a federal stimulus grant.

Yes, or I could also have both. The C5 is a great vehicle, but there were certainly some things left out of the design that should be expected on a vehicle that cost almost $60,000 out the door.

I'm not blaming you Bill, I understand there were probably many things you would have done differently, but the fact remains that Corvette is one of the most "profitable" vehicles GM sells and while of course they need to stay in business and turn a profit, I feel there are some things they could have changed for the better, like the $.90 part you wanted to change.

Seth McFarlane, possibly one of the most successful toy manufacturers in the world now, has been quoted as such...

"I could save $.25 by making the basketball all one solid color, but why would I?"

A business plan doesn't necessarily have to include cutting back costs wherever you can, because truth be told there are plenty of Die Hard Corvette fans that will buy the car if it was made of silly putty, but there are just as many other people that buy them as a "regular car" and Die Hards and regular buyers do in fact notice things like this.

Do you think the fact that the aftermarket has come up with a foam filter for the cowl is merely a coincidence? GM very easily could have installed such a feature and passed the cost along without the end consumer batting an eyelash.

I agree there are always going to be compromises in design and engineering between cost and benefit. You also have to look at the buyers who may not purchase another Corvette because of "the small details".

You can't tell me that there was never a single conversation about better cabin sealing and filtering. I'm not sure if the C6 has a filter, but I'm going to look into it. I'm sure GM has installed these on some vehicle somewhere, and the question becomes, why not the Corvette too.

***Edit*** So the C6s DO have a cabin air filter. This proves that GM saw a business point this time around for including such a feature. I don't feel that desiring to "update" my Corvette to a feature found on the new model is tantamount to pissing in the wind. But as always I value your opinion.
