ECBM fried by lightning strike thru trickle charger. Code is C1232 (Wheel speed circuit). ABSFIXER can only repair Code C1214. Car is '04, so EBCM is front mounted. Where is best place to buy new or refurbished unit? Thanks.

It happens!! I had mine blown too when lightning hit right next to the car. It worked when I parked it,,BOOM,,and then it didn't work and threw codes!! One hell of a coincident if it wasn't the lightning!! Just to be clear,,it hit about 5 ft from the car,,ten feet from the house(big maple tree) Got my EBCM,,3 TV's,,my computer,,and electrical service to the front of the house. Even blew pieces off the concrete curbing of the drive way!! Lightning is some strange powerful stuff!! Was close to the door when it hit,,almost ruined a good pair of Jockey shorts too!!

EXACT same thing happened to me while I was on vacation a few months ago. I took it to a reputable dealer with corvette-only mechanics, and I had to have the entire EBCM and front right wheel sensor (C1232) replaced. My insurance covered it though, thank god! I was only stuck with a $500 deductible rather than a $1700 total bill!!!
Just make sure you also test your wheel circuit. It's most likely fried too.
Anyone have one of these fried EBCM that would be willing to send it to me for examination and possible repair? Looking at the wheel speed sensor it is an inductor so it's possible that could cause a problem via induction. Has anyone had one of the modules apart? Is the PCB sealed or open?

Is it possible that the wheel sensor is the problem & not the EBCM?

Same problem here, a surge got my Battery Tender and the EBCM. I'm getting the same code (C1232). I've talked to Brandon and a couple other guys that rebuild them. They all said it was shot. I'm setting here looking at it on my printer.
OK... Reading through all of this and I was just wondering.... How about using a "surge protector" on the Battery Tender Jr? I know its like shutting the gate after the cow gets out, but Im just thinking of the rest of us that will have their Vette's on a Tender this winter. My house and garage is a sitting duck in a lightning storm. I have a metal roof!
Comments???

I was thinking the same thing about the surge protector (a little too late, but thinking). I've never had this problem before and I have four Battery Tenders I use sometimes during the winter months. A good surge protector should help unless you get a direct hit.

I just came back in from the garage and already have mine in place.. I had one sitting around that one of my kids left behind when he went into the Navy. Plugged in the "Battery Tender Jr", hooked it up to the Vette and all is good! I think this may be the trick this winter. I was feeling somewhat bummed thinking Ill be running out to the garage every time it rains (which is quite a bit in the winters of Oregon) and having to unplug the tender.

I believe I'll be checking on a couple of them myself.
