I have a 98 Convertible w/48,000 miles and the back edge of the top is rubbing through the paint! Just behind the black strip on the rear hatch. Isn't the top supposed to rest on that black strip? What can I do to correct/stop this?
My 01' is doing the same thing. Didn't really know til now that there may be something wrong with it. I guess this problem could have been addressed under warranty but probably no chance now. I read the service bulletin and that's what it sounds like. I figure I'll just live with it now. I've put a little touch up paint on the wear spots and it doesn't really stand out. Doen't know if I would want to mess with the top. I'm not to shy to take on most things with this car, but messing with the top hasn't been something I've looked forward to.
I installed the new convertible top weather seal today, took maybe one hour to complete.
I my case the cloth seams were not a problem. But I was glad to know to check them while I was in there!
