I took my Z on a road trip this past weekend, about 600 total miles. Up until that point, I had not really "enjoyed" the car and was thinking about selling it and getting into a C6Z. For better or worse, I really fell in love with this car this past weeknd. How it handles, accelerates and just looks. I don't know what took so long...I have seen a lot of mods for this car the last year or so that I have been researching. Since I bought the car I have been holding out, weighing my options, but now I think the decision has been made. We are in love, both feet in, and it is time to MOD! So here we go.....just thought I would share.
yeah I know....I've just been busy and it took a month or two to fix a few minor things that were annoying me Ordering LED taillights today. CCWs not too far in the future,
Bought my 04z in april this year and had fun with it , only put 3k on it, I love the look of the car but just thought it was ok. little under powered for me. Just installed lg pros on it yesterday and now im falling in love with it, the headers really put some torque in it and it sounds great!!!! left the stock ti's out back. The vararam and tune are next.
It's hard to really know what feels right. I knew I wanted a Z06, so I bought one. I drove it for 6 months and put my 72 Camaro show car in storage. It was an easy decision to keep the Z06 and sell the Z28. Everybody that knows me thought I was crazy to sell the Z28, I had won car show after car show, but in the end I sold the Z28 and paid off the Z06. Now I have the car I really wanted, it's paid for and I'm just as happy as I can be. You never want to let someone else influence you about this kind of decision. I know the Z06 is not for everybody, but it's the right choice for ME.
I have always loved the FRC and the package the C5Z comes equipped with. I will always keep my 2003 ZO6. I might add to the stable, but the C5Z is the best CORVETTE ever put on the road! That is just how I feel about it. I LOVE MY Z!

Nice post. I have been 2 feet in since I took her for our first ride. The machine is incredible and I love everything about it- except for the gas gulping- but that was to be expected and totally worth it. I have been taking it day by day- I am still not used to the power coming from a 1995 BMW M3. =0)
Mine is a similar story When I bought the car I enjoyed the heck out of it as my dd but I didn't really bond with it until an 11 hour trip from SC to Biloxi MS a few months after the purchase. The whole trip felt great and I really got to know the car. When I got to my destination I wanted to turn around and drive another 11 hours. What a car! It was spring, the windows were down the whole trip, and I had a beautiful girl to make the trip with too to make the trip even better. I can't wait to take a trip to the tail of the dragon for a weekend!
There's a phrase I use in situations like this one (rhymes with ooyah sandba'), but I have a feeling vettegirl will make fun of me . So instead, I will simple welcome you to the insanity.
This car is so much more rewarding to tinker with that any other car I've owned Have fun!

Welcome back good buddy. I went for a road trip myself this past weekend. My honey,Z, and me went to Michigan for three days and except for getting caught in a freak snow storm on Friday, had a great weekend. Saturday was great and Sunday on the 300mi trip back , the weather was gorgeous!! Got a few chances to hammer it on the road back and these cars dont be playin!! Its great to be able at this time of year to get great road trip conditions. Its Monday and im still grinnin!!

Despite my ham-fisted attempts at ruining my car by doing all of my mods myself, it continues to perform beyond my expectations. I'm certainly no mechanic, but this Corvette just keeps getting faster.

thanks man, I really did feel great about the car when I put her in the garage sunday evening...she was beaming at me.......I think it was for mods though
I've owned my car since 03, and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. When I get to the different tracks I run (as much as possible) its like a drug whose addiction you cannot break. Words cannot describe how much fun it is taking turns as fast as possible and the car sticks, holds the line and turns when/where I want it to. This past weekend I drove it so hard, the stock shiftknob's plastic center popped out.

If you ease up on the throttle, you'll see good gas mileage.
I suspect if you are getting worse gas mileage than the E36 M3, you probably don't care since you are moving pretty quick at that point.
