what is required to install the c6 shift **** in a c5?
Well, I was looking at that and if you buy the B & M Sport or Short Shifter you can rotate the shifter 180 degrees for the locking key it said. Not all of the aftermarket shifters allow you to do this.
However, the stock C6 shift **** will thread on the stock shifter I'm told. You can use locktite instead of the locking key to insure it doesn't rotate around on you because you won't be able to use the locking key with the factory C5 shifter. If you bought a C6 stock shifter you might be able to get that to work but, I'm not sure about placement or proper fit in a C5 for the stock C6 shifter.
The picture below shows the B&M set up with the slot to the rear for standard C5 ****. You take out the allen head screw in the shaft and rotate the shifter shaft 180 degrees and reinstall the allen screw to get the slot to the front for a stock C6 ****.

Well, well... How did it go? I'm having second thoughts on my stock shifter ****.... As nice as it looks I think the C6 might be a little nicer....plus the stock leather wrap is loose on mine and if I keep her I'm going to have to flow some epoxy I think. Nothing like a perfect shift screwed up by slipping leather on the plastic sleeve. Dagnabit !!!!
