WOW - GM did GOOD ! 2002 original & going strong -

I read in 2013 ALL cars will be required to have them from the OEM ...

There are aftermarket ones that just screw onto the valve stems and read on a FOB - for motorcycles / atv's ... about $ 250 for 2 for a motorcycle ...

Big factor...do you live in a cold climate, then I expect shortend life span, after all it is the battery that fails. Batteries like the Vette don't like the cold! Greetings, Rob

Just replaced sensors this past November, original 98's sensors, build date of Dec 97 had 3 of 4 working, and one started failing intermittently. That's 13 years.
