I can spin them at any speed under 60mph with my A4 with the TC on. My tires aren't all that bad either. Only have a tune and headers. Will have to get a video made this summer.

Anyway I went to a safe place after work today, my TC and ABS was working at that time, I turned TC off and tried to power brake and burnout like I usually do and my tires broke loose at like 1/8 of throttle with ease. I smoked the hell out of them and never was happier to do a burnout. Now at least I know it was not my torque converter or transmission which can be very expensive.
Glad you figured it out. Now, go buy some new tires.

I'd like to see a video of that, too. Try it on a dry, warm day. I'd be amazed.

I only drive the Vette on dry warm days. You can ask the girlfriend about it, she screams every time I do it.

After my first ECS tune I could smoke the tires pretty good, but after the headers and the second ECS tune it's a whole different car. I have to be careful not to floor it most of the time because it will break lose real fast.

Not JUST traction control off, but make sure it's in "Competitive Driving" mode. My 100% stock A4 will smoke 'em like a dragster.

Glad your enjoying it!!!

OP, if you have a problem with your ABS/TC, it shuts itself off, it wont hold the car back. Something does not sound right there.

The BTM (brake tq management) is what makes the car not do a burnout if your foot is on the brake, which is one of the items we shut off in a mail order tune.

All in the tune.

Still need to see that video. This makes no sense at higher speeds. If all you have are longtubes and a tune, you just can't be putting out enough power. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

This sounds like a Generation 1 Active Handling car, except I see you have a 2002. I thought the 2001+ C5s, with Generation 2 Active Handling, would power brake. I do know the late 1998, through 2000, C5s, with Generation 1 Active Handling, will not power brake. They act just as you say yours is doing, except the downpower begins at 1200 rpms and the more throttle you apply the greater the downpower. Very strange.

it goes to about 1400 almost 1500 i believe i know it was more than 1200. before my ecm went to ****'s i'd put it in competition and could do it pretty easy but after that it wouldn't wanted to brun my tires off when they were finished and could only do donuts

my car will also spin the tire any time under 50 mph with TC on and it's a A4 (fishtailing) I dont know how fare it would spin with TC off and I'm not gonna try it cause I will probly end up in the ditch!! here's a video to prove it if you look at 2:53 in the video the car is fishtailing

I would say keep doing this and you will have tranny and tq converter problems tha twill be very costly. Here is a old trick just take your winshield washer unit and fill it with soapy water run hoses out to ur rear tires hit the washer button and hold on it will get tires burning LOL

I agree. thing is, you can spin them from a dead stop too. To be able to break loose at 45 or 75 but not from a dig makes no sense to me. I've had 2 cars that would truly spin a street tire @ 45...both EASILY would destroy a good set of slicks from a dead stop
